Oh Boy!
So I had been holding off on buying a ledge because I really didn't have the money and I have good access to a single and a double. But, yesterday I got a BRAND NEW A5 ledge and rain fly with the tags still on it for $260! This was a real steal as most of you will know. Some treehugger had bought it 5 years ago to sleep in a tree in protest and never used it. He sold it to the climbing store for less than $200...

Anyway, I am bringing it to the Valley of course, so you MIGHT SEE IT since it is

BRIGHT PINK

(along with my soon to be altered old fish haulbag)

Just had to share the excitement....

I have slept three on a double. No reason why you cant sleep 2 on a single.... at least you will be warm - only need to have one bag...

For the record, Dr. Piton highly recommends you buy a double ledge for these reasons:

It is more roomy and comfortable, even [especially] when alone

It does not cost much more than a double

It does not weigh much more than a double

You have the option of bringing along a friend

However, this being said, Dr. Piton is inherently a cheapskate, and is duly impressed with Hottieclimber's Killer Deal.

And you should never say "no" to a Killer Deal.

Good one, Hottie!

Funny, then, that all the male posters to this topic immediately imply that the New Pink Portaledge is some sort of high-scaler brothel rife with prurient potential.

What about the real topic, eh?

LET'S FLAME THOSE TREE-HUGGERS!

And especially when it's Daddy's money that pays for the top quality gear that winds up in good hands at a mere 23 cents on the dollar.

Oh, but if only I could convince a tree-hugger's daddy that a $4000 rack of new cams, stoppers, biners, ropes, jugs, ledge, haul bags and solar-powered refrigerator was necessary to protest the clear-cutting of the forests of El Capitan . . . .

No! A foolish opportunity wasted. Let us ENCOURAGE them so that we can all get brand-new portaledges for $260.

As I have frequently pointed out to aspiring outdoor climbers, gym climbing is *way* better than outdoor climbing for many reasons (no bugs, no weather to contend with, short approaches) to the extent that anyone who does not currently climb outdoors would be better off not going to the bother. Now, however, I will suggest that protest tree climbing, with fancy ledges bought with money from daddy or with money furtively withdrawn from their children's college fund - all the same to me - is the next logical step after gym climbing. This is the sensible progression. Once they are geared up, but not before, make sure they know the addresses of the local used gear store.

Nice job on the ebay action!
And, i should revise my announcement to say that unlike my BRIGHT PINK HAULBAG, I guess you would say the single ledge is kind of violet... (it still rocks).
