Hey people, I live in Charlotte and have been climbing since '92. I am having trouble finding reliable climbing partners lately. I like to trad, top rope and sport. Lately, I have been consumed with the idea of working "The Whining" at Hidden Wall as a project. I have never lead anything harder than .11c so this is truly a project. If this sounds interesting, let me know. Keep me in mind if you want to go to Crowders, Pilot, Saura or wherever. My wife works every other weekend so I have the kids but, I can get out on every other weekend and I would like to start going to IP again. Jim

How about a "Turkey Top-Rope" at Crowders Mountain, Sunday Nov. 27? Maybe an informal gathering - meet at Linwood Parking area 9:30, divide into groups of similar ability, aim to rendezvous at the top around 12:30 for lunch? If interested, I'b be glad to coordinate. I'm heading to Charlotte from Michigan, but I'm a Tarheel (Davidson College class of way back). Good climbing, Sam

Looks like a no-go for this Thanksgiving climb as a group activity. Neither of the area climbing gyms have outdoor climbs that weekend. Sam

Climb-on. I am tentatively lined up to head to Crowders Mountain Saturday after Thanksgiving with Vietnamese neighbor of our friends, Tuan, UNCC student who works at a rock gym. If you want to check-in give me a ring on cell 734-276-3367; I'm thinking rendezvous at the top around 12:30 for lunch and lies. Sunday if weather is bad Saturday. Sam Smith Michigan transplanted Tarheel

I'm new to the Forum, but live in Charlotte. I've been having a hard time finding people to climb with. Most recently (Nov.4) went to Stone. Trad climber who has, in the past, led 5.10s, enjoy friction at 5.9 level. Judging from this subject in the forum, there are more Charlotte climbers than I suspected. Would it be worthwhile for us to get together some time? P.S.: I'm writing a book on Charlotte buildering called, "An Underground Climbers' Guide to Above Ground Charlotte." So far, I've found some good places. In this regard, check-out "Cock Rings" (5.0-5.15, A-2) at the corner of Randolph and Wendover. The "exposure" (the number of cars going by per hour, and your likelihood of being arrested for criminal trespassing) is extreme. Carolinas Medical Center Behavioral Health is just a mile away. If arrested, start foaming at the mouth, tell them that your neighbor's dog told you to climb Cock Rings, and ask to be taken to Mental Health. LOL :D

Dont know if you all are still watching this thread but I'd love a tour of Crowders around the Holidays. Most of my family has relocated there and spend much of my vacation time there. Would love to escape the crazy relatives for day trips to Crowders or multiday up to Boone/Asheville. PM me if you wanna get up to Crowders on 22nd or 23rd of Dec. I'll prolly shoot some of you a pm too. Reid
