In reply to: In reply to: only wanabe's climb in comps at Ouray when everyones watchin,,,the REAL action is the week (or better yet days) AFTER. when all the BS is over! i've been before and after. and you're right, it's especially easy climbing AFTER when you don't even have to swing to make placements. and, truthfully, this isn't my stroll through the park, ouray isn't about "action" -- it is what it is (and that's fun) and the fest, it is about the "BS" 8^) i can understand you thinking i'm a wannabe. after all, in shelf (after being back on the rock for a mere 6 weeks) i was only onsighting 10d. how 'bout this, though...drive yourself over from b.v. and we'll see for ourselves who's the wannabe. r.r. yeah! what he said!

In reply to: RR Got it! Agree it's a bunch of fun! But it aint really alpine! I'll be there on the 16th and heading to Ames Ice Hose and other alt. venues. Love to meet you there! -Lee i know it ain't alpine, but i'm too young (and poor) to be an alpinist, anyway  . i would love to do the ames. i may wait one more year for that. stick with the ribbon (if the avy danger isn't high) this year. besides, if i don't come home on the 16th, i may be in big trouble. btw, the new profile shot on stuart is nice. been wanting to do that for years and actually met fred beckey 2 weeks ago (and he signed my cascade guidebook). regards. r.r.

So it's witch cold here in UT the last few days. Lot's of places have been in and kinda fun. Got some new gloves from BD and they're toasty! Along with a complete new A/T setup. Crossbow 187's, Freerides, Matrix boots and some skins! Merry Christmas early from my wife.

Right now we're planning on driving from East Lansing and leaving after work on the 6th. I've got a friend in Denver we're staying at for a few days. We'll be in Ouray on the 9th. We're staying through the 16th! Cant wait for the ICE FEST!!! (and my first trip out West!)

Mmmm, Oberon! lisap...i'm conflicted... you're a spartan :( you like ice climbing (and are willing to DRIVE to ouray when munising is mere 6 hours away) :) but if you bring beer i won't be conflicted anymore  regards. r.r. p.s. midwest ice climbers are the best--you gotta love something a lot to travel like we have to...
