Anyone have an update as to any of the bouldering areas around boone, nc?? What's dry and not snowy/icey?? I'll be in the area around Christmas and wanted to get out if at all possible.

I'm assuming you're familiar with the areas to begin with...

Lost Cove will likely be the best bet as far as conditions go - lots of sunlight and pretty sloped, so it'll dry out quickly. Sections of the parkway are closed, so you can only get to Grandmother if you park and walk. If there has been any precip in the last few days, blowing rock will likely still be wet. If the roads are iced up, the 221 circuit would be pretty damn hard to access...

Definitely familiar...Wilkes native...now living in Raleigh. I guess Lost Cove will be the choice. Anyone planning on getting out around Christmas?? Would love to meet up.

That would be my best bet, too. Check www.booneweather.com to find out what the weather is/has been/will be like, and you can base your decision off of that. I'd personally walk the extra mile and a half to climb at grandmother, since nobody will be there, assuming that the weather is nice and the area isn't wet. This is the best time of the year for lost cove, though, so might as well climb there... if you can get a parking spot.
