The program is available to download off of the downwindsports.com web site. Ice is climbable and should look good for the fest.

I was thinking of going to this, but had a few questions about it. First of all, does this event cater well to beginners? I've ice climbed once and don't own any ice tools. If I were to go, would I need to rent them from somewhere (if so, anyone know where and how much $$?). I saw that there will be demo equipment available, but it sounds like you can only use them for a few hours each day, and not really 'check' them out for the weekend. I should be set on gear otherwise. Also, will there already be topropes setup for people to climb on? I'm not talking about during the clinics, those are a bit pricey for me. I obviously wouldn't be leading, but would I need to bring a rope and gear for topropes on my own or is that all taken care of during the festival? I'm just looking to get some climbing in and have a good time without having to shell out too much $$ on a clinic or lessons.

Good questions... I'd also like to try it without a significant investment just to see if I like it. It seems a little more intimidating than a rock wall!

The Ice Fest is very beginner friendly! As a matter of fact most of the climbers that attend have never ice climbed before. Here is the deal. Its 20.00 to attend. That gets you into the 4 slide shows (and the 1st keg is on us!). It also allows you to demo all the ice gear and clothing Sat. and Sun. All of the climbs at the demo area are already set up for you and people will belay for you as well. The Intro courses are all taught by the professional climbers. I hope you come up and enjoy the festival!

Opps- forgot to tell you the demo gear can be checked out for the entire day. We do ask that you return it in the evening and then you can check out different gear for the next day. That way everyone can try out all of the different gear.

Things are starting to come together for the fest. Just a reminder: *Thursday we are climbing at 11am at Eben Ice Caves. Meet at the store and we will car pool out. We will also have an after climb get together that evening at the store. *The courses are filling up so if you are interested please sign up asap! *We are giving away more gear at the raffle then ever before! Don't miss Steve House's slide show as we will be giving out the goods then! *The Falling Rock coffee shop will be open early sat and sun for the fest! Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year!
