so I can get a pair of super alpinists for 170 bucks. problem is it's mail order and I pay for shipping, so I don't get to try them on. how do they size up compared to sportiva? will I be in the same size or should I order large/small?

I noticed your post and although I do not know the sizing of Sportiva, I am familiar with Vasque. - I own three pairs of their boots.

They fit true to size (size 10 = size 10). They tend to fit people with medium wide feet (me).

I have a pair of Super Alpinistas and for $170 that's a great deal. They are warm boots and the soles are sticky but durable. Although, IMO they are a little heavy and a little stiff.

The new Mad Rocks interest me, but I have not held them in my hands or read any reviews....see www.pagangear.com
