Anyone have any suggestions about the best places to climb (trad or sport) in Australia end of June-end of July? Also wondering what the weather is like during that time. My partner & I will appreciate any and all suggestions! Thanks so much!!

Brisbane and the south east corner of Queensland would be perfect at that time of year.

Wouldn't you say that the Blueys would be too cold, I'd imagine that Nowra and Point Perp would be gold though.

Every true blue sports climber worth his squiddy has a puffy dude, Bowens creek goes off in the winter, just have to pick the crag, then perfect friction, sunny skies and low crowds!

For awesome old school and BIG trad lines on sandstone try the Wolgan Valley - 3 hours west of sydney, it is part of the western slopes of the Blue Mountains. The valley is a beautiful wilderness area, full of wildlife, with amazing campsites (byo food, water, beer) which are free. The climbing has everything - hard face, mixed and relentless cracks. Innumerable 3 star routes, something a bit more interesting than your average blueys climbs - ie no ring bolts! The camping is at valley bottom (el 450m) so much warmer than the blueys at that time of year. Plus you'll probably have the place mostly to yourself - all the bolt-clippers'll be in Nowra. c.

The Wolgan shall be known only as "Gods own country", it's only problem is getting a partner, because, yes, you will have it to yourself! If you are keen to get out there and you have a car here, mine wouldn't get there, I'm all for it, got all the wiglies you could ever want and I know my way around the crags. Happy to lead upto around 20-21 (10d?) on gear and on bolts 24/25 (12a?). all depends on uni breaks though...
