I am looking for more route info/ beta on the Whitney Basin Traverse.
This traverses from Lone Pine Peak to Mt. Carillon. I am planning to do it at some point this summer over 2 days. I have the Climbing CA High sierra book (moynier) but some more info about gear and bivy spots would be great!
Thanks

You might call Wilson's Eastside Sports in Bishop and see if anyone on the staff has done the traverse. Paul Richins has some beta on his website for a winter (ski) traverse; drop a line if that appeals to you more than the hot, crowded summer season ;-)

I'm not sure if this traverse is in Peter Croft's book, but that might be another place to look. Either Climbing Mt. Whitney; or The Good, The Great, and The Awesome both by Croft. Those would be the books that I would check out to start with. Beyond that, check out the High Sierra Supertopo, but I don't think that this traverse will be in there.

Good luck, it should be a great time!
