my long time climbing partner bailed on me and i MUST haave climb so i guess it's free-solo or nuttin. there's !1 problem. my kick-ass schnauzer Denali. Denali tends to sits on ropes and get into people's packs when i'm not around, so i want to leave her tied up while i solo this sweet crack so she won't get into troule. if i wasn't so poor, i'd just get some trad nuts and make an anchor for Denali, but i'm a starving student. and yes, sliding x, not cordalette. probably i will place a bolt at the base of the climb so that i cna tie Denali up while i'm gone, but i don't know what kind of bolt to use in wingate. will a hardware store bolt be good enough? p[ease advice

Why don't you just put a large rock on the end of the dog's leash? BTW, were you huffing some sort of industrial solvent when you posted this? A quick perusal of your other posts on photography shows they are eloquent and lacking the errors in this post. It almost looks like someone hijacked your username.

How about leave the pooch at home? Or how about a piece of webbing around a rock? If none of these are options for you then I guess you will need a 2" by 12" sleeve expansion bolt for that Wingate sandstone. You know it is pretty soft and you wouln't want the pooch to have an anchor failure. Make sure you place them at least 6" apart. Also, you should use a sliding X to equalize the load, as I have seen studies where those grey pooches have caused quite a bit of shock load to anchors when using a cordolette!

That's funny, the exact same thing could be said for the original post in this topic. I mean, do you really think that anyone is going to believe you think it's going to be more time and cost effective to place a bolt rather than just tie your dog off to something? That's idiotic. You're going to want to go ahead and place a six foot piece of rebar in the rock instead. Make sure and use a hand drill though, it'll fit better that way.

April 1st isn't for a couple more days. You are too early...and too obvious.

nothing but the best is required for such a critical hardware application. I recommend a glue in up your dog's butt. Tie it off to some 3/4 inch static line with the other end girth hitched to the landing gear of an airplane. that should keep him out of everyone's way.
