Keep in mind there are a couple different things called biodiesel:

Waste Vegetable Oil: Can be run straight in an engine that has been converted (filters, etc) to run on it. This can also be converted to biodiesel to be run in most regular diesels with no conversion

Real Biodiesel: Requires a little bit of chemistry and elbow grease, but no car conversions necessary (generally). DIY'ers can get it down to about $0.75/gallon assuming they get the WVO for free from a local restaurant or whatever. Some areas also sell this stuff at the pump, often blended with petrodiesel. Not very cheap, though.

yes i was talking about the veggie grease kind of bio diesel. I know off the other kind as well. Your post confused me a bit, i had previously thought you could only convert diesel vehicles, but i got the impression from your post that you can convert all cars to run on veggie grease, is this true?

My husband is in the process of converting his deisel Mercedes to a veggie-oil burner as we speak. My garage is full of used oil from a local Chinese restaurant. Maybe that's why I get this odd craving for egg rolls in the middle of the night...

If you have any questions about this whole process, pm me, and I'll give him your email address. He loves to talk about this stuff, and he's done a ton of research.
