Here are some pics of my new woodie that is build in the shop. The wall is 12' wide and 10' high. It broke it down into three 4' sections. The first section, starting from the left of the pic, is a 25 deg 6' up to a 2' roof then 4' to the top. The 2nd section has a 45 deg at the top, and the last section is 18 deg on the bottom and 35 deg on the top. I have any were from 90 to 140 t-nuts pre a 4x8 sheet of ply wood. I still need more holds but I have a great start.

I will be adding more to it later. I plan on taking making it about 3' to 4' higher as the attic it a raffter type roof and is open for about another 6'. That will be later when I have more $$$$.

I got a great deal on this wall. I bought a wall from someone that was moving and could not take it with them. I got about 14 sheets of plywood and all the 2x4's and 2x6' that he had plus about a 100 holds all for a great price of $150. Then I spent another $200 on some 10' 2x4's, more t-nuts and some holds. All in all I have spent about $400 and I very happy with my new wall.

I'am looking of a good and cheap way to pad the floor. I'm thaink about using foam and carpat like the gyms have but I think that is going to get pricy. I am also thinking about making my own crash pads with foam and tarps.

I'm planing on having a wall warming party on the 15th of April. You bring the drink and I supply the food. All are welcome.

What I did for padding, which works very well, is I went to a packaging factory and got a couple truck loads of scrap foam. Then I took a piece of carpet from my friends basement that he refinished and put it on top and tacked down the sides. It is very soft, durable, easy to clean, and it was free.

Edited cause I can't spell

Thank you all!

Fuzzbait, I'm not going to cover the ceiling because I will be cutting a hole in the ceiling and taking it up another 4' maybe 5'. I'm just going to have fun with this for now. Have some work on the house before I can do the rest.

nice space for a climbing wall. looks pretty good, but i suspect as you climb more, you'll wish you had cleaner angles. most people that i know who've had a home wall with little roofs in the middle have taken them out and just had clean angles in seperate sections...

cheap wah to pad the floor? go to the dump and collect the cleanest mattresses, if you're sketched out by they, throw some carpet on top...

My gym uses RubberStuff for padding. It's really not that expensive but fabulous for falls; and I know. (Not that I fall THAT much  )

Your wall kicks serious butt. I wish I had a 10 foot space cause its hard to cram as much fun in a 6 foot room. Enjoy yourself

Thanks! Yes! I'm serious about the party. You telling me that you are willing to drive four hours to climb on my woodie, I'm surprised if you say yes. But yes I'm planing a woodie party on the 15th of April. I will have the food, you bring the drink. Not sure how many people will show up, but all are welcome. Just PM me for directions to the house.

Bill
