In reply to: while falling really really far scream 'I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN UP KAYAKING!' (run-out required) get all that out during a fall and win a prize... how about: while falling really really far, just scream! and when you land (on your feet), you drop and roll, curl yourself up and keep screaming. does that get a prize??

When run-out I often find myself repeating a paraphrased line from Bob Dylans's song. "Take away the rag from your eyes, this ain't no time for your fears!" Guess the song and win.... nothing :D

In reply to: That's right, I'm sponsored by Tudor's Biscuit World. We'll get your heart beating faster then Red Bull. Our old Slogan used to be "Taco Fueled Climbing." It probably had something to do with the prevelance of Tacos in our diet at the time. And hey, who can't climb harder with a belly full of seasoned meat and beans? And for that matter, why stop at climbing? You live harder when you eat tacos. We pretty much started every climb for a time with an audible only to your belayer: "Taco Fueled, dude" to which the appropriate response was of course, "Taco Fueled." This becamse so commonplace that I once wrote a letter to Old El Paso asking that they sponsor us as professional climbers. I told them that we weren't very talented but we were highly noticeable (usually in the form of a debacle) which is better for promotion anyway. I didn't ask for much. Just a couple of patches for our backpacks and maybe and Old El Paso t-shirt for each of our 4 members. And if they couldn't spare that, maybe just one large t-shirt that we could all share. And some taco shells. I believe that was the extent of the request anyway. Perhaps I said that we could discuss financial support at a later date. They pretty much shut us down by asking that I resubmit my request on our organization's letterhead. That letterhead project never really came to fruition. But hey, it was a dream. And even though they never did sponsor us, our organization has been pretty much dissolved, and the old slogan has fallen by the wayside, it still tugs at my heartstrings when I walk down the "ethnic foods" isle and see those big quart sized jugs of Old El Paso salsa. And their little taco kits in the yellow boxes with the red strip of roofing at the top. Makes me want to buy a box and crumble one shell onto the ground for the old days. Man I'll never forget the day that jonqdoe rolled up to dinner with a jar of Pace. I mean sure, the guy could crank... but Pace? You've got to be kidding me. And for the name that tune game: "Lonesome Death of Hattie Carrol."

In reply to: For alpine: "A woman's place is on top" For rock: "A woman's place is on the face" For partners: "It's not about how many 5.11 climbs you lead, rather how many 5.11 lead climbers you lay" And I was so determined not to fall in love today  My slogan has to be "climb fast, take lots of chances, jump for stuff. It is all about adventure" And, yes, it contrasts with my signature. Brian

"Either trust yourself or trust the bolts, hopefully you can do both on a good day!" That one was inspired by climbing the Seward Highway/Chugach Crud, aptly named for the rock and the anchors. Apparently I'm infamous around here for putting the rope up on freaky climbs. 8^) A close friend recently dropped me about 30 feet in the gym- not on purpose. Next time I rope up with her I'll use this one: "You're going to catch me this time, right?"
