Me and a bud of mine are going to do a two week 'go find yourself trip' at the end of May and wanted to do our first desert tower. I have heard that the access road sucks and its a pretty tricky trail to find. Is there anyway someone could give me a few pointers on how far a honda civic will make on the road and approx. how far we will be hiking. Also, what about riding bikes, I don't know if that would cause more harm than good. If you could PM me that would be appreciative!

http://i1.tinypic.com/v5gz8h.jpg You make it a third of the way down the green line, which represents the possible driving, blue is my memory of the walking.....

When we did the route, we also had a low clearance car. We did not drive very far. However, we did ride our mountain bikes in to the climb. Just be warned that you will probably end up riding in a sandy wash with a heavy pack. It was still faster than walking. Another good piece of beta is that you can get off with one rope. Save yourself the weight, and just bring one.

excellent.. about how long did it take to do the hike, climb, and hike back? Just wondering for time sake because we wanted to do some more climbing that day if possible. Thanks!
