...send them to me for testing But seriously, they'll work. They won't be as convenient as 24" or 48" (too long to go over the shoulder, too short to double), but they shouldn't be an issue as trad draws (in thirds). Most likely you'll have gear hanging lower than that anyways. --JB

You could use them if you're hard up for cash, but in my opinion they would be pretty inconvenient as trad draws. As hopper said, too short to double over your shoulder, too long to sling over your shoulder as a single runner. Plus when you extend them they will hang down quite a ways and just make your falls that much further. Rarely do you need more than a 2' sling on a piece, and if you do just use a 4'. Overall a pain in the ass. There's a reason your frind gave you these...

they will be fine. They will hang at the same height as a single 12" draw which is not a problem. This is actually a very convinient size imho. 48" slings are too long to do as "draws" and are thus harder to whip out quickly, but often you need more length than a single 24".

Is this any help? I think 24 inches is a 60cm sling as they measured differently, but let me know if I am wrong. http://www.planetfear.com/article_detail.asp?a_id=269
