I found an old issue of Rock and Ice the other day and was reading about all the influential climbers of climbing history. Yabo, crazy yosemite strongman, was one of these characters who made the list. I caught a hint in the writing that made me think that possibly he commited suicide while climbing, possibly untying his knot while up a route. I know that he commited suicide, but was wondering if i caught the correct jist of what happened. Any information on what might be the story? Thanks.

He shot himself I think. And remember, there are those who knew and loved him still climbing and a few ply these and other boards... http://www.supertopo.com/..._id=177208&f=210&b=0 Also, if you haven't read Lynn Hill's autobiography, I recommend it. DMT

Ditto, he shot himself after an altercation with his girlfriend ( possibly ex? ) In Lynn Hill's book " Climbing Free " it described what happened in great detail.
