OK, I got a totally gumby question for you guys, what the hell is the deal with Ham Sandwiches? Is it a reference to anything in particular, or is it just one of those things that started because everybody knows how good a ham sandwich is and now its funny to talk about? Speaking of Ham Sandwiches, I am going to go make me one right now.

The ham sandwich energy boost only works if the ham is honey-cured. All that extra sugar gives me quite a buzz, and then it's onsite time!

Ham sammies give you the boost you need to crank through that 5.6 crux without disturbing the hex at your waist.

Ham sammiches are eaten because they are the primary diet of Trad climbers. Easy to fix, plenty of satisfaction, and reliable. Sport climbers eat Tofu, are Vegans, or are too busy and don't eat. Boulders eat PB&J, candy bars, and kids menu items because they haven't grown up yet. Essentially, Ham sammiches are for grown ups. 8^)

ham sammiches are great. I just hear the "clonk clonk" of a real trad rack in the distance and I start to salivate.

Most trad climbers keep a ham sammich or two in their pocket for emergencies. I also carry a backup in the top of my pack just in case I drop the others. I know one partner who preferred to 'carry hers in her stomach.' She was ALWAYS bumming a bite of mine at the belays. And SHE was JEWISH! Such is the importance of ham sammiches in tard climbing. DMT
