OH, I see. So, you are in the area now though? OK, I thought in your PM that you were there now.

Yea, we can work something out. This weekend I am not going out. However, I really hope to go somewhere next weekend.

Buenos Diaz Senor Rocha!

I will try to let you know when we go out. Do you have an automobile? All the crags require some driving.

Hey Guys I'm pretty new to climbing, just started in September, but i found this thread and thought i'd post. I live a lil north of Pittsburgh and climb the Mills every now and then and will be a lot more as summer gets closer. But anyway, back to why I was posting. I was at REI in Pittsburgh last night and an employee that was working there wall was talking to me and said in May towards the middle of the month, there is going to be a BCS competition at The Climbing Wall in Pittsburgh, He said some big names are supposed to be there thought i'd let everyone know. I haven't checked it out yet but i'm sure they have info on BoulderingCompetetionSeries.com about it

I hadn't heard about that. Thanks.

I actually only look forward to comps because they set a bunch of new good routes. :) I went to one comp, and I didn't seem to have as good a time as everyone else has. Of course it probably didn't help that I sucked.

I look forward to running into you at the wall.

I don't remember the exact Date, but i'm pretty sure he said the Comp. was May 10th or 11th. I dont remember exactly though. He told me the names of a lot of the pros going, but I can't post right now cause i'm at school and supposed to be getting a lesson in Microsoft Excel. I'll post names later Tonight

yes, i'm looking forward to the next weekend getaway at seneca or NRG. i'd love to do some easy trad with you guys. i think my next available weekend will be either the 13th or 20th of may...

i now have a full set of BD stoppers, but i'm really trying to solve this pesky problem of finding $$$ to get the cams..... perhaps a garage sale? Pawn my wedding ring?! sell the kids???!!! seriously though, i think by the middle/end of summer i should have a working rack to play with.

victor

how much for the children?

I got in contact with hugorocha, and he actually lives in Philly. So, this western PA thread doesn't help him much. He won't be joining us this weekend. :(

I wish him luck with finding partners on the other side of the state.

Hello All!! I'll be at the mill this saturday. It should be fairly interesting. I'm bringing 3 people that have never climbed before. Any suggestions as to where i should set up top ropes for them to learn on?

When I bring out people that haven't ever climbed, I try to make sure they succeed at everything. So, I try to put up the easiest routes available. If they send all of them, then I would start putting up harder and harder stuff.

With this being a Saturday at the mill, you will probably be limited in the availability of routes.

hey guys i was up at mills from like 5:30-7:30 on Sunday and I noticed a yellow cam wedged in some rock. When I went to inspect it, I noticed the reason it was probably left there was because the triggers were ripped off. Does anyone know of a way I can still get it out w/out the triggers?

use 2 nut tools to individually actuate the cam lobes.

Chances are that the cam is still probably overcammed though. So, it still could be quite difficult.

After 50 million people yarded on it enough to break the trigger wires, would you really want to be using that cam?

The new Seneca Guide is in the Gendarme. I already bought a copy. I will be picking it up during the Cinco de Mayo party. No shipping, but guaranteed a copy.

Woot!

I hit up the Mill on Saturday. I went up alone and met some folks who were very nice. Bouldered a bit w/ a couple guys, then set up on Sunshine and ended up sharing rigs w/ another group next to me.

Thanks to those who were so nice to let me hang out and climb w/ them.
:D

That yellow cam has been their 2 or 3 years and has had everything including a crowbar used on it. Save your time and spend some money.
