OK, I'm 50+ years young. 8^) I'm wondering how many folks on this forum are my age or older?? Do you have any age-related problems that affect your climbing? Do you have any climbing buddies who are older than you? 8^)

If you don't have any luck here, try Supertopo. Those guys are old as the hills. Except for little Rammer boy. Oh yeah, and they can climb circles around me. Except for little Rammer boy.

Countdown to 70, here. Arthritic shoulders, but I'm back on the rock. Too damn many bodyweight exercises, I fear - but I remain addicted to them. 8^)

52 and still climbing. It helps keep the aches and pain away. If I don't climb, it seems like the Arthritus kicks in really bad. All these young whippersnapper climbers have it so easy nowadays. I'd love to take them back to the early sixties and see how they would do climbing with the equiptment, we used to climb with. I'd also make sure I had a good supply of diapers, and pacifiers, handy if they needed them.   Cosmiccragsman

All the older climbers I've seen are hard as nails. It'll be a long time before I'm anywhere near able to do some of the stuff I've seen some old guys do. Andy

You guys impress me, I can only hope to still be climbing when I reach 70. I'm getting there myself at 46 with a back that was broken in 4 places, I understand aches and pains. So far though.. I seem to climb more often and harder (maybe a little slower sometimes) each season. I'd love to climb with any of you. Climb On!

I'm 56 and NOT hard as nails. I'd like to think that overcoming my spare tire makes me even more macho. I drive 8-10 hours every month to escape the gym. I hurt for days afterward, but this is life. Death doesn't begin at the grave, I think it begins when you say, "I can't do whatever because I'm too old." Still alive in Florida.

Hey Skinner; Tattooed_climber told me what MOACS means. My hexes and some of my stoppers are old, but not that old. If you ever get to JT, Give me a pm and I'll climb with you. (As long as you don't mind the smell of Ben-Gay that is...  ) Cosmiccragsman

I was hanging around with some young people this weekend(they were in late 20's; I'm a newly minted 44-year old) and I was telling them about some of the VFC(very famous climber) guys I've been lucky to meet(who happen to fall in the age bracket this thread is about). I suppose I should mention that I was speaking of the men in terms of being attractive/available, etc. Anyway - one of them made a snarky remark about one in particular - said "What - isn't he like 80 or something?" This, about one of the legends of our culture. My jaw DROPPED, I tell ya. But I picked it up, firmly set it in place and gave him the steel eye, and said "Well, I think he's about 65 or so, but I can tell you that he climbs harder than any of us ever will, and when I have done trailwork with him, he works harder than anyone else on the team. " And then I said...(well, I did!) "If he ever asked me out, I would say yes in a second" and looked at that pup like there was something WRONG with him. The nerve! I am still offended, just thinking of the impudence.

I'm working on the double nickel. Still ticking a list that gets a little harder all the time. Love pushing and still making gains!!! Climb a lot with folks roughly half my age and enjoy the hell out of it. Couple of hard .11 trad routes in the Black on my list. Hope to hit them soon  !

Well Terrie, when you come up to the Rumney Ruckus, you'll be able to add to your list ... we're all attractive/available, etc. Turning 53 this year and like good wine, getting better every year!

In reply to: I don't get it... sorry, maybe it's my senility  Not to worry-unless your interests lie in the direction of endless bickering over the hole counts on routes so obscure that they are only repeated once every 23 years by drunken spainards or confused italians-or the relative merits of adult incontinence products- your not missing so much.

I'm only 30... but I feel old. (Arthritis runs in the family...) All I can say is, GLUCOSAMINE! But hey, the reason I am posting here is that I over the past couple years I've had a chance to climb with several people in their 50's (NOT old IMO), another guy pushin' 60, and another guy at 71. Novice or not, I seem to learn a lot from them every time we go out. And they all seemed a lot younger than their age... Oh, and the oldest person to climb our portable wall was 81 years old! (He was pretty good, too!) Arthritis be damned, I don't plan on stopping until I'm too weak to walk. (hopefully that's well over 80!)

"Pass the Ben-Gay" ? I have JT in my gun-sights during the doldrums this fall, when it's too cold here to rock climb, and the ice isn't really formed yet. NP, I'll PM ya.. and maybe the smell of my Ben-Gay will cancel out yours, and visa versa :P
