Bouldering is nice when bored. Sure it takes skill.. but so does snatching flies out of the air with chopsticks.

bouldering is way too hard for such an elite alpinist like skiclimb .. I mean you have to make a series of hard moves with no rests on gear in between them besides it's not as cool to fail on a little boulder that 9 year olds are running up when you can talk about being a couple hundred feet up (and possibly failing)

Honestly, he's right. Once you get up there, you're just going to come right back down again.

I have no problem with bouldering, I even try to go out and do it once or twice a week, but flaming alpine climbing just because some alpinist disrespected your precious bouldering is hypercritical. Let me put this in words you might understand: BITE ME JACKASS! IF YOU THINK ALPINISM IS EASY, MAYBE YOU SHOULD TRY IT SOMETIME!

I never thought i would come around to the bouldering thing(it has improoved my climbing) but flies with chopsticks? Cmon only way i can do that is to sit around a pile of poo with a 5th of whiskey a case of beer and try to figure out why my sesame chicken is getting cold... Now thats like an endurance trial

I don't get this thread. I have read plenty of route descriptions that read something like "begin with the finger-crack roof problem (probably V5) to a stance at which you can get in some gear. Follow the 4 bolts up and right through the crux, a V20 mantle to gaston. Gaston the icicle, unholster tools, and go to top." Every time I climb a route, I do some bouldering it seems.

bouldering takes power, alpine and long multi-pitch takes endurance, it can be a completely different thing! I know tons of guys that climb v10 v11 but cant keep up when we are doin 20 pitches of 5.9 different styles!

Little tiny boulders i ran across on the way to a summit I can't see them from don't inspire me much. sry

I also know people who lead 5.13 roped (sport) climbs who can't get their weak asses up true V3 boulder problems. "20 pitch 5.9 climbers?" - forget about it. Curt

Quite frankly, I despise bouldering with almost every fiber of my being, BUT that does not change the fact that skiclimb is an idiot. Someone needs to take his fly-catching chopsticks and shove one of them in his eye. Why would you even post something like that? And quit it with that poetic, zen vocabulary bullshit, you're not fooling anyone. Of all the days I can rate posts, why is today not one of them!!!! -Colby

I suggest that Churchill despised boulderers. BTW Jgill was cool only because levitation is a rare skill. My appologies for reinventing zen.. please rename it skiclimbinism
