I am living in Charleston, SC for the next two months and am hoping to climb at the James Island County Park. Does anyone live here besides me? Want to go climb?

My climbing partner moved down there a couple months ago. He's had some trouble finding nearby gyms that are worth the drive and/or the money. He's a pretty good guy and he's climbed outdoors with me throughout Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. I'm sure he'd enjoy the company.

skip that place unless you are going for a quick 30 minute max day. Head up to Crowders Mtn, or Table Rock.

While you're there, take up a new hobby -

Consider it cross training.

I'm a NC native, so I'm familiar with the areas...but i'm looking for 2-3 nights a week to stay in shape while I'm working during the week. Thanks for the tip though. And maybe I'll have to try windsurfing...not sure how it will carryover though :)

I live in Charleston on Isle of Palms (about 45 min. from the James Island Wall) and I'm heading out there Saturday afternoon to climb. Its a fun place with a bunch of good climbing. The cost is $10 for non-Charleston County residents and $8 for county residents to climb as long as you want. The wall is located in a county park which costs $1 a person to get into.If you've got any questions or your interested in coming out Saturday, just get back to me.

I just moved to Charleston, SC. I am looking for places to climb but have been pretty unsuccessful, anyone have any tips, I have been climbing for a few years, so I am not new to climbing by any means. I just want to stay in shape while I am here... I have a bunch of people I know who are interested, and we will be around the area for a couple of months and will be in and out of charleston for the next year.

The only good climbing gym in Charleston, SC is on James Island at the JICP it costs $10 for non county and $8 for county gear is extra plus $1 gate admision to the park. They do allow your own gear and they do provide belayers. Hope this helps guys. I live in Charleston on James Island where the wall is and it stays busy alot. I am there almost every weekend in case you guys might want to meet up there.
