I read somewhere that somebody was using some kind of plastic sheet instead of a foam pad inside their haul bags . I can't seem to locate the original post, so here's the question: does anyone have good info on an alternative to closed cell sleeping pads? It sounds like a really decent idea, but being a big wall theorist I would like confirmation from a non-theorist before I try it out -- Sean [ This Message was edited by: astronerd on 2002-08-26 21:08 ] [ This Message was edited by: astronerd on 2002-08-26 21:10 ]

Yeah I remember that... It was a kind of "plastic cardboard" that signwriters etc use for ourdoor signs etc...I have forgotten its official name. It is definitely here in the aid forum, I dont have the exact link. Try scanning through the titles, check out anything with all bags in the title for example. I'll see if I can find it too... Cheers Fishy.

I think the stuff is called Cloroplast or something like that. But Fishypete is right signmakers use it. I have never gotten around to trying to locate it but it shouldn't be too tough. I also was thinking about using one of those plastic sleds that you can buy at the supermarket every winter. You know the ones. You have to unroll it and hold both ends down with your hands before you can climb on to it. And then halfway down the hill you fall off and the sled curls back up into a roll and continues down to the bottom without you.

I had this idea a while back and posted it to rec.climbing in 1999; it has worked nicely since. Read the thread here. I'm sure others have had the same idea somewhere. [ This Message was edited by: glockaroo on 2002-08-27 09:45 ]

Glockaroo, that was the post I was looking for. For some reason I missed it when I did a DeJaNews search. Glad to hear it works, now i'm off to locate either core-o-plast or one of those crazy sleds wigglestick mentioned. Damn this site/forum is usefull. -- Sean
