I have been climbing for years, mostly trad and sport routes and I want to start doing some aid pitches. I am having a lot of difficulty finding anyone that can help me learn, or even get a decent start in learning to do aid safely. Where can I turn in my state to learn something about aid climbing? Any suggestions or tips on aid climbing would be greatly appreciated, oh and one more thing... nailing is illegal here in MN, so it has to be clean. making the switch

Of course it is legal. Well I think it is. I know it isn't legal in Canyonlands but that is a park. Dude just read some of Petes stuff on soloing and go do that. Or just find some aid climbing class.

Actually, quite a few years ago nailing was banned in MN, but that is okay considering the very small amount of rock we have to work with around here anyways. So Dr P has the goods for me? I can't seem to find classes around here, there is just no demand for it.

if you want to learn to aid, do it like you did when you started to climb, on top rop. so that when that manky hook blows you dont deck. once you can do the "climbing" part start learning the hauling tech, and what not. baby steps. this i how i was tought (ive only been a few times) but its a safe controled invirment. and once you get to the top have you teacher jug up and check you plcments and give advice. (like when i learned to do trad)
