I can't answer for all of Oregon, but Smith Rocks has a new one coming out in a few weeks. Check out: http://www.smithrocks.com/ The old one is still good though. Not sure if you know about the area or where you plan to climb, but it is located just north of Redmond, OR which is about 10-15 miles north of Bend, OR. You can fly into either city or fly into Portland and drive. I was there a few weeks ago with friends: Check out: www.crackclimbing.com click on Trips then Smith Rock if you're not familar to get some idea of the rock. Tons to do there - mix of Sport and Trad. Have fun Climbing!

There are a few guidebooks depending on what part of the state you're looking to climb. Smith's the biggest climbing destination in OR.

i'm looking for a general guidebook... i figure i would just pick up one specific to smith at some point when i get there. the context though, is that i'm moving to Eugene so it's not like i'll just have one day to climb and need to hit up the best spots or anything (i am VERY aware of smith rock!)

There might (just might) be a falcon guide that covers all of oregon called "Rock Climbing Oregon" or something like that. Try Amazon. There is also a guide called Rockclimbing Southwest Oregon by Greg Orton that covers areas from Eugene down to Ashland and out to the coast. That book is out of print now and is now being printed in three sections (the Rogue, the Umpqua and the Willamette). Check out cascadeclimbers.com for some good info on Oregon and Washington.

Uh, you can fly into Bend if you have your own small plane. Redmond has regular flights from Portland and SeaTac, maybe Boise too. RDM is always expanding.

There is no comprehensive guidebook to all of oregon. (no falcon guide like there is for Washington). if you're in Eugene, your best bet is to check out the "Rock Climbing Western Oregon" series. It's a 3-books series covering the western part of the state from roughly Salem to California - Info on those books can be found at http://www.climbsworegon.com The Willamette Valley & Rogue valley books are currently out, and the 3rd is supposed to be out next year. Smith Rock has its own guidebooks. the Alan Watts guide is the more complete one, but it's old. there's also a new Smith Rock Select book coming out in the next month or so. The Portland area has its own guidebook also, by Tim Olson, but it is not currently being printed anywhere and may be hard to find. Enjoy

Come have a chat with us (the UO rock climbing team) at the UO rock wall. We got all the beta you need. Plus parners galore. Hell this weekend we got people going to Calahans and Smith (depending on the weather..)

I saw the new book...selected climbs of smith, or something like that...it was ok...I would recommend the old Alan Watts book and talk to locals...The new Watts book is complete and coming out shortly...at least that is what I have heard for the past year and a half!
