I know i could have posted this in other knot forums, but I thought many should see this.

I am a bio-major so I appreciate good experiments, and this looks legit, though not aimed at climbing, it is of interest. I never use this I always use a double figure eight for my prusik, and the gyms just use it as a back-up, but I guess a double fishermans would be ok for webbing since it has no core.

Any knot will weaken a rope so don't think that your double figure eight is as strong as the rope. And why would would you use a double fishermans on webbing when there are other stronger easier to tie knots?

from your post, it kinda' sorta' sounds like the results of this test were surprising to you, and make you doubt the double fish.

don't.

as the tester mentioned, the results were exactly as expected. ie: acceptable reduction in strength assuming normal climbing software. if you poke around, you'll find similar reductions for all the other knots.

whatever you want. the response posts clear up the issue. other folks might think along the same lines as you. someone might learn from the thread.

i vote for leave as-is. less work. possibility of education. no risk.
