I live in Olympia Washington and i was wondering where the bouldering spots around my area are. I am willing to travel but i don’t want to go 100 miles just to boulder. Thanks for any help.

step 1. find a rock 6 feet or taller.

step 2. put on climbing shoes.

step 3. smoke some of the tasty olyimpia bud.

step 4. sit and ponder rock from step 1.

step 6. stand on top after onsight.

repeat step 3. sweet sweet victory!

Sry I dont know your local area well, but im sure there is somethin around.

Gold bar is really good, its probably close to 100 miles from you though.

There are some boulders(Garden bouldering area???) near little si, not very good though. There are probably plenty more boulders around the mount si massif, just not as easily accesible.

Hopefully someone here will reveal a better stash of boulders than this though...

If you are really desperate there is a tiny wall past the falls at tumwater falls park. Go all the way down the trail until you reach the big cement patio past the falls. Behind a few bushes is a little wall. Me and my friend have been here a few times and is fun for about an hour. Traverse the wall or there are a few lines that go straight up. It is usually wet so wait till summer Also i heard that there are some boulders in capital forest near rock candy mountain. If you find some, i would like to know. I would also like to have some bouldering around Washington.

i don't get down that way much anymore but I did notice that the new (4th addition) "olympic mountains: a climbing guide" describes a couple of boldering areas in the hamma hamma drainage which is almost that neck of the woods.

Man, I've been looking for a good bouldering spot near Tacoma (pretty close to Olympia) ever since I got here. The best I came up with was Fossil rock and some boulders at Exit 32. Neither is outstanding, but they are entertaining enough.
There are also a lot of boulders in the Mt. Rainier area. Just stop at any of the pullouts around there and hike for a bit, you're bound to find something. None of it is established or all that great, but it is pretty close and the views are pretty amazing.
Good luck with your search and let us know if you find something really cool.
