I fish here all the time and notice all the large walls, but I haven't ever seen or heard of any climbing. I was wondering if anyone knows of any. It would be a killer place to climb in the summer. Climb on climba [ This Message was edited by: roughster on 2002-09-25 03:51 ]

Although it seems cool, since it is in one of the most protected national parks, chances are against you. They probably wouldn't want holes from bolts, chock on the routes, or possible damage to trees used for anchors. Good luck, though!

Reading an issue of "Yellowstone Today" from summer 1993 (I absolutely keep everything from my travels for years and years, it's crazy, this issue is yellowed by the years!), I can find this quote : "Rock climbing in Yellowstone is dangerous due to loose, crumbly rock. Climbing is not recommended in most areas and is illegal in the Grand Canyon". But it means you might climb in some areas, doesn't it?

I have wondered this myself and haven't been informed of any climbing in Yellowstone. I really don't see why there would be a problem with it because other Parks, Yosemite and I think J-tree is a national park, allow climbing. It would be a great place to go check out for sure.
