For the past 2 weeks I have been trying to design my new tattoo. This will be my 3rd. I want to have something on my wrist. Something that ties into nature and strength. To give you an idea of how artistic I am, let's just say that all of my stick figures have penises. :-) I suck. I'm getting it on my right wrist and I want it to go all or most of the way around. Anyone have any ideas or know where I can find some neat ideas online?

I've already thought of that. I figured that covering it with tape would keep that from happening.

You should put four dots on top and four on the bottom, carefully measured so that the dots define the eight vertices of a perfect cube.

Just do a solid band around. Don't tape it up. What remains is truly art. Rock isn't art. Routes aren't art. The body isn't art. The act of using only your body to climb rock, in my opinion, is very much art.

Don't do your wrist. Be burly and do the upper bicep.

In reply to: how about a line of stick men with penises dancing around your wrist? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's pretty funny. I thought about the bicep but when I'm ripe and old, they may not be as defined as they are now and that might look lame. The wrist seems safe enough. I can cover it up with a watch or bracelet if I need to and it will be in a place where I can see it. Plus, I like the fact that I never see people with tats around the wrist. The sundial idea is a funny one too.

In reply to: Tracy - what about Ouroboros? Snake eating its own tail? I'm sure you'll recognize the design when you see it. Ouroboros is an ancient alchemy symbol depicting a snake or dragon swallowing its own tail, constantly creating itself and forming a circle. It is the Wheel of Time - The Alchemy Wheel - 12 Around 1 to manifest grid programs that give the illusion of linear time allowing souls to experience emotions. Ouroboros is associated with Alchemy -- Gnosticism and Hermeticism. It represents the cyclical nature of things, eternal return, and other things perceived as cycles that begin anew as soon as they end. In some representations the serpent is shown as half light and half dark, echoing symbols such as the Yin Yang, which illustrates the dual nature of all things, but more importantly, that these opposites are not in conflict. Then go see Lonnie at Mile High Tattoo. He'll design something brilliant. I have Ouroboros in the middle of my upper back. It was one my girlfriend at the time drew up and it ended up being a cover up piece. It is probably my favorite piece that I have. I will try to take a picture of it tonight.

Only if an artist does it.

Just not a rose around your wrist, for fuck's sake. If I had a dollar for every white trash woman I saw with a rose around her wrist, I wouldn't have to work full time. You could always get Veritas and Aequitas along each thumb. But then you'd have to start killing criminals, vigilante style.

How bout some type of bird with it's wings spread out so they wrap around your wrist and meet on the other side of your wrist (so bird's body and tips of wings are on opposite sides of your wrist). I was thinking of something more Native American-artsy-looking as opposed to something realistic, but that's just me. Or, a sun and a moon, one on each side of your wrist. It could be cool to do one continuous tattoo with the sun and light blue sky on one side, transitioning to a darker and darker sky until it's black with stars and the moon, and then returning to daylight. And on the "top" and "bottom" of the tattoo (the hand-tattoo and forearm-tattoo borders) the colors could fade out gradually (so you're not left with a distinct, straight border between tattoo and normal arm color). Keep us posted! :D

how about some celtic knotwork? you can get something made up pretty organic-like. Maybe even throw in some figure eights for a little climbing theme.

This is going to be hard to explain but I have the idea of what I want. Picture a bi-pattern rope around your wrist, joined together with a fisherman knot. The loose ends of the knot are snake heads. The left one faces up and the right one faces down. The bi-pattern fades into snake skin. Climbs4fun is drawing it out for me (see stickman penis remark about my artistic ability). If it rains tonight and I can't climb, I'm going to get it. I found a great shop here in Denver. Now I just need to decide on colors. Nothing too brite but not too dull either. I may wait until my sons come back from TX so they can watch me get it. Last tat I got was over 9 years ago but I remember having this same excited feeling I did back then. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I'm dying to get a copy of it but have yet to find it in stores up here in east bumblefuck - I was wondering if there were some good additions :D Great flick, one of my fav's of all time. Supposidly the sequel 'all saints day' will be in production soon... but they've been saying that for a couple of years now. :x
