I found it interesting that the original book in Italian came out in 2004, and yet in 2006 this is considered "news" (no offense meant to socialclimber). - Seyil

Bonatti was a bad muthafuyer in his prime. The stuff most of us spray about on chatboards as our finest achievements in the mountains were the sort of things he would do on a rest day.

More interesting also is that the only thing that Lacedelli "confessed" was that Bonatti was somehow mistreated by Compagnoni (which is something that everyone knew, and is not the key issue of the story). But he still maintains that they reached the the summit without oxygen, as their bottles had run out some 200 mts. below the top.
