Now I remember why I quit posting here...

I wish I could have been the first person to tell you to shut up, but I'll be just fine with being the third. Why don't you finish what you started and actually not post up? Now you're a pretentious ass and a quitter.

Nice troll

If I went by the fall=toss criteria, then I have at least 100 peices that I would have had to throw away upwards of 20 times @, not even getting into
biners.

So why is this a 'troll'? Yes, I know that in many cases you don't throw the pro away, but the question was about taking a big fall. Too bad you can't take my serious question seriously.

Many years ago, I took a 20 footer on a #3 RP after a Friend pulled out. The RP held with many strands of the cable torn. I left it dangling on my mail box. Great conversation piece. I’ve never retired any other piece I’ve fallen on although I did inspect some of them very carefully after the fall.

Cheers,

Rob.calm

"Big" fall has little to do with it. A 80 foot fall with 150 feet of rope out stresses the gear less than a 20 foot fall with 25 feet of rope out. Remember your fall factors.

No need to retire the piece unless damage is visible or the fall was super severe

Peace

karl

It never occured to me that this could be a serious question. If so, then sorry and the answer is "not." -unless there is obvious damage.

No problem Jaybro... sorry I was a bit short with you.

Karl, thanks for that. One might natually think the opposite. I'll look into the 'math' of the situation.

Just make sure the stem isn't bent, and the lobes don't have big bites in them.
