Hi People In Southern Ontario, I've been climbing for a few months and simply cannot get any better at what I'm doing unless I start climbing with people who are better than I am. Since that's probably most of you , I'm wondering if anyone in the vicinity (I'm in Kitchener, but have my own car and don't mind driving) is willing to take on a newbie who really, really, really wants to learn. PM me or post here, I'll be checking both places. Thank you in advance from the bottom of my inexperienced little heart, Kate

Hi Katy! It's good to see a fellow KW'er on here. What do you climb at? I'd consider myself an early intermediate I usually climb 5.9/10 in the gym and I'm still figuring out what I climb at outdoors ( I finally got off my butt this year and got the gear together to get outside ). I'm prolly not mentor material but you're always welcome to come out and climb with my wife and I. We usually go to Higher Ground twice a week, but we'll be gone for Sept. Your best bet for a "mentor" on technical climbing is to buddy up to the boulderers at the gym, in my experience they know the most about "the right moves".

Wow...Look at all these climbers in the KW area. This is Great! Kate... I've only been climbing for about 3 years now so I'm probably not mentor material either... however, I'm ALWAYS interested in going climbing. I climb around 5.10 - although yesterday I flashed my 1st 5.11!! Anyway If you ever want to go to the gym or out to Rattle Snake just gimme a shout and I'm there. (meridian this applies to you too) You can email me at kwmoore@myrealbox.com. Hopefully I'll see you soon, Ken. p.s. I'm on vacation now in B.C. but I'll be getting home in mid-sept.

What are people up to this weekend? Anyone feel like heading out to Rattlessnake or Mt. Nemo for some outdoor fun? Weatherman is calling for sun and 30 on Saturday!

Hey Kate, I did not realize there were a few fellow climbers on here from the K-W area. I'm from Tillsonburg myself and my buddy and I climb at Higher Ground once a week. Usually on Monday's. Your more than welcome to join up with us if you'd like. We have been climbing for about 3 years now. Most of our experience has been at the gym but we've been known to hit Niagara Glen a few times a summer and we were climbing a 5.10 crack on Molson Rock in Collingwood a few weeks ago. I almost flashed a V5 up in Niagara about a month ago so my buddy and I may be able to give you a few pointers. Wouldn't say we are the greatest climbers but watching different people climb always helps. If you care to hook up sometime, just drop me a line on the old e-mail @ undead5@hotmail.com or just PM me. Goodluck with the climbing, Dave

Look up Grant (darkside), he's a very experienced and safe "all around" climber.

Why thanks for the vote of confidence Adam. What brings you to the Canuck forum though, too hot in Cali?? I should be heading to Nemo this Sunday and would be happy to help folks learn a little more about climbing or just to hook up with other RC.users. It would be great to see some others if we got something arranged. I could lead some climbs for others if there are any TR climbers interested because be aware..... there is now a MANDATORY TOP ROPE BAN at Mount Nemo. For further info on this check this topic. http://www.rockclimbing.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=14906&forum=27 It is important for your sake and to help the Access Commitee maintain climbing access privileges, to respect Conservation Haltons recent decision to ban TR's at Nemo. /steps off soapbox, looks for climbing pack to go to Nemo. Anyone for tennis....erm.... climbing, I mean.

I'm gonna try to make it out to Nemo this Sunday. I have yet to do ANYTHING outdoors, and have heard that a crash pad is pretty important. So if i can get one by the weekend maybe i will see some people there. Brian

I'm in. Should we setup a meet time/place? Normally, it's a real struggle for me to get out of bed, but if climbing is on the agenda I can be up at the crack of dawn... so pick the time and I'll be there. Kate: I'll be coming from KW too. You wanna car pool? I live in the Chicopee / Sportworld area; where are you?

My husband just reminded me that our niece's christening is Sunday morning. But if people are going in the afternoon, I can hook up -- I'll be coming from Burlington. Kate

Rain, bloody rain. It should be clearing this morning though so I'm still going to head to Nemo to check conditions, then if need be switch to another crag. I know of a dry climb at Rattlesnake(most likely) or a trip to Gravity may be on the cards. If anyone was planning on joining us that didn't PM me then look on the climbers notice board for an update. We need more overhangs on the escarpment. PS- we were planning a 10am meeting at the Nemo parking lot. [ This Message was edited by: darkside on 2002-09-15 05:33 ]
