Dear everyone,
I formally invite everyone to the San Luis valley, the diamond in the ruff of Colorado. For those who do not know, the valley is the second largest alpine valley in the world, in other words its like Kansas in the middle of some glorious 14ers. Anyways it is my belief that the valley is one of the largest unexplored bouldering areas in Colorado. There are posts of some of the bouldering areas (ala boulder city, rock creek) but even those only have the boulders closest to the roads marked. Even penitente and surrounding canyons have no mention of some of their world class bouldering. Daniel Woods brought attention to the area with the film "thaw" viewed at bouldering.com but that is just a sneak peak into the miles upon miles of unclimbed boulders. I suppose what I am getting at is that everyone who has yet to climb in the valley needs to come down, check it out, put up some problems, and help the area grow.

Unexplored? Are you kidding?
Just because the problems are not all documented does not mean they are not there or have not been explored.
I think the San Luis Valley is great the way it is - without the traffic that The Front Range sees.

this is true to many people would suck, but some of the boulder areas i would say could benefit from a second glance

damn bob, chill out...he is just a noob and excited about bouldering....im sure he has no clue that you were one of the sole guys developing the area years ago...and on that note, if your ever in the area hit me up and i will soak up as much knowledge as i can

Don't know about all that shiesta bouldering, but penitente is awsome. I used to drive over there all the time from Pagosa Springs when I lived there. THat canyon has soo many good climbs on great rock.
