I think it's the way you cup the GriGri in your left hand while feeding "rope" out with your right.

Congrats Nate!

Has anyone here climbed at Jackson Creek Dome? I was considering camping/climbing there next weekend to check it out? Any suggestions about camping at either Jackson Creek campground or at Devil's head, or somewhere else? If anyone else wants to head there, the more the merrier. Right now we have 2 couples going. I will be there early friday afternoon to secure sights.

Nate! Congratulations! Glad to hear mom and baby are doing well. You're going to be a great dad. Only a great dad would create a 401k climbing gear retirement plan at such an early age.

I hope you'll post pics. Nothing better than the sweet innocence of a baby.

Well it is good to see not much has changed since I last viewed the thread. :)

Maybe I missed it but how long has the Catslab been "closed".

Suz and I went out there last weekend and found the sign. Any beta? I haven't checked the access fund site yet but I'm hopeful it will be reopened soon.

Cindylou! Give me a call please.

To everyone else, have a great weekend! Off to Chicago for me - enjoy.

Hello everybody. I'm fairly new to this website and I'm looking for partners in the Boulder area. Head over to this post to learn a little more about me.

I am a beginning/very intermediate climber. I can't lead, but I know and understand how most of the systems work and I can second in the 5.8 to 5.9- range.

I get off work every weekday at 1:30, so I am able to climb in the afternoons. Weekends also work!

I have all the personal gear I need (harness, shoes, belay device, a couple of runners, and some lockers), but other than that, I can't contribute much to the gear. Sorry. :(

I DO have a rope though!

PM if you want to go climbing!

Thanks,
Matt

EDIT: I'm also looking for a shoe buddy to buy some new shoes. See the link above for details and PM if you fit the bill.

So nthusiastj and I headed up to Wild Iris this past weekend. Was feeling the need to escape the heat and pull down on some overhanging limestone. Just to warn you, there are more deer and antelope in Wyoming than humans. I should know. I inserted one on the front grill of my car on the way up. FECK! We're both fine; car not so fine. But some good Samaritan stopped and towed us to Casper (closest town with a shop that stood a chance of fixing my truck.) And we still made it to Wild Iris in time to get in a day and a half of climbing. :)

I am the SHIVA of automobiles.

Hello everyone. For those interested, I will be competing in the Dew Action Sports Tour on Saturday July 15th at the Pepsi Center. My event is BMX Vert and it will be held inside the arena. The prelims are from 3:30-5:00 p.m. and the finals are from 8-9 p.m. I will be riding the big "U" shaped ramp. Some of you that I have climbed with have expressed an interest in going and it would be great to have a RC.com cheering section. I hope some of you will make it.
Jay

Yee Ha... thanks for the tics on Sat., Jay! It was super keewl watching you guys huck your meat.
For those who don't know yet... Jay is a bad mo fo on that bike.

Sorry to hear that, Kim. But if it makes you feel any better, the friend I am climbing with this Saturday totalled two nice cars since 2005 alone. Luckily she too survived uninjured.

So my friends and I are hitting Little Eiger in Clear Creek Canyon today after work, maybe 4:30-ish. Come on down and enjoy some gneiss shade man. The Red River Gorge kind of rekindled my interest in sport climbing. Gotta go back there sometime soon!

Hey Kim, look at bright side, now you have enough 'dead animal' to feed all of us carnivores at the res-q bbq at Josh's place.

Glad you are OK.

Nate,

CONGRATS!!!

Splat, Dina, and myself caught Jay in the Vert BMX finals at the Dew Action Sports tour. Holy crap you get some freakin' air dude! Consistently 10ft+ over the lip of the ramp. Thow in an alley oop 540 and a tail whip and well...WOW! We had a blast watching the comp. If you guys ever get a chance to see Jay do his thang, you should.

Hit Devil's Head on Sunday. tzilla has a new spot called Shady Lane. Micah I know you were there on Saturday. What a nice spot. Right now it just has a couple of 11's and after some consevative land stewardship looks like there is a nice bolted 5.12 on an amazing line. Maybe a dozen routes will go in there from possibly 5.9 up. It's in the shade all day so what a nice cool summer spot. Throw in the Shaft and the Arena and that spot is starting to become one of the best places to get good 'Head.

I suggested a route name of "jacket required", mainly cause we're such classy people, and it was freaking cold there when D-town was in triple digits!

That's really awesome. I'm trying to convince a flatlander to visit and take advantage of the milder temps in the upper altitudes.

I don't understand how you guys can voluntarily CHOOSE to do this route. Just painful. Things like that are only climbed if a winning lottery ticket is stapled to the inside, halfway up. ugh. :P

First and last attempt, I am sure I will agree with you on that. If phill is still in and and can get there earlier we will get it started. Other wise I will see you at 6pm tomorrow.

I think you will want to got shirtless and short shorts  for this one.
