Anyone know when the medium and large Supercams will be released? Their size range replace the 9 and 10 and I'm in need of the bigger sizes.

So my rack got stolen this spring (out of my house with my laptop)... and I invested in a full set of Metolius, cept that they only make up to #8 now. So I called them to ask them the same question. The answer that I got was "about the end of summer, maybe fall" and that was just for the next size up... maroon, I think. They're having trouble just producing enough of the small ones now. Sorta sucks that they discontinued the regular large sizes, especially since they're lighter... and they don't have anything to replace them with yet :C Bad marketing if you ask me. Makes me want to buy BD, lol. Hope that helps; sorry that I didn't get any info about the largest supercam, but I'm sure that's at least a year out. PS

I believe their CNC machines have been pretty tied up keeping up with the demand for the new Ultralights...

In reply to: I believe their CNC machines have been pretty tied up keeping up with the demand for the new Ultralights... I'm still suprised that people like those things....I thought the new axle heads were an improvement...but the shorter length and specta slings don't feel like improvements to me. Oh well....good thing I got my set before they released the Ultralights. Jim

Jim, we went all through this in another thread - the Metolius Ultralights are the exact same length as the Power Cams were. They tested shorter cams but decided against going that way. Again, the Ultralights are the same length as the previous units...

The length from the cams to the end of the u-stem is the same, but I believe what Jim is referring to is the shortened trigger bars. They no longer stick out as far on the sides... not as much purchase for your fingers. I didn't think I'd like them as much because of that, but I haven't found it to be a problem yet rock climbing... but I haven't climbed with gloves on mixed routes yet. I'm sure that'd be a major problem for the alpine environment. Just my thoughts, for what they're worth (usually not too much :P) PS

It was a TCU I played with... and I'm used to Powercams....but it seemed a lot shorter/ smaller for the size, to me. I hope your right healyje! I'll have to take another look at them in the shops sometime. Jim

Hello from Metolius customer service. We are trying to have the Medium Supercam available around the New Year. It's range will be from 2.07" to 3.60" which is roughly what is covered by our still available #8 and the now unavailable #9 Power Cams. We do not have an expected release date for the Large Supercam yet.

FYI, if you're desperate they WERE selling a couple at the outdoor retailer show in August... so they haven't released them to vendors yet, but maybe you could pick one up if they go to another show. Or who knows, call them... you never know... PS
