Can't Post

Can't wait to check out the boulders in Fountainbleu. Going to be in UK for 2 wks Aug 5 then arriving in Paris on Aug 19. From there I am heading to Bleu.
Have read the previous posts about car rentals but was hoping to use trains. Good idea or impossible??? Can anyone offer any suggestions on where to stay near the park (a cheap hotel would be good)
Anyone going to be climbing during that week that might be able to show me around to get my bearings?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! :D

A great resource (of boulders and areas) is www.bleau.info And for transport and so on:
http://www.cosiroc.org/FAQs_Frequently_Asked_Quest_ct.html

Atleast Formula1 is a cheap motel nearby...

Just got back from Fontainebleau....

First off, the train station is way too far to walk from. Second, I'm not sure how people climb in Fontainebleau without a car. The areas are not close together, they aren't even close to the center of town. Do yourself a favor and rent a car from easycar.com, or autoeurope.com, you'll be glad you did!

Have a great time, it's some of the best bouldering I have ever seen!

Etape hotel or Formule 1 are the cheapest - check out http://www.etaphotel.com. Car is advisable, otherwise you'd better find someone willing to give you a ride from fontainebleau city center. You can improvise camping, but be careful as it's forbidden.

bouldering there is great, although better in winter because of friction on sandstone. You certainly will have fun in summer too though. Popular areas to begin discovering are i.e. Trois Pignons forest with Roche aux Sabots, 95.1, Cul du Chien etc., there is Bas Cuvier if you want hard polished problems, or Damme Jouanne for highballs. My personal favorite is Elephant, although i haven't visited even half of the sites there yet.

check out http://bleau.info/ - the best french site that has problem classification, comments, pictures etc. Knowing french helps.

Every time I go I try to tick a complete circle. Try the blue one in Franchard Isatis, 50 great problem to get a feel for what bouldering in Font is like! Prepare to have more trouble on 3Bs that you will have on 6Cs...

Thank you Swedish, I will check that out...and from what I have heard, I will probably have trouble on most of the problems...but I am looking forward to trying!!
I know its crazy hot there now...and not the best conditions..but will there be any climbers in Font in August, or will I be sliding off those boulders all by myself? :?

Hey there! Paolo, myself, and bellaitalia and steve-o will all be at Fontainebleau this Friday through Sunday. We are most likely staying at the Etap or camping. Drop me a line and I'll send you my GSM, let's meet up! :D
