The know how you feel. The only way I would be able to get it out of my head is to keep trying. Work on it...you will get it.

Well, my question is: did you try multiple times and fall on each attempt? Or did you fall once and stop. Cause I guess the most common answer to your question is to get back on the rock, and try again, and again until you get it. And when you do get it, you will be so ecstatic that you did do it, it could feel even better than onsighting it. Whatever does not kill you makes you stronger. I say go for it, and do it next time!!!

You're being a little silly. This is not the last onsight you're going to blow. Just go on-sight something else. -Jay

I soft on-sighted a 5.10c last week. I jumped up quickly, clipped the first bolt jumped down and then climbed it. Don't really like high first clips where the fall can twist your ankle or such. ALl i can say is just go out and do more... soon you will be angry for not onsighting thoes 5.12's

>>The route was "Snake Rattle and Roll"5.11, four stars. A NICE LITTLE ROUTE, BUT BY NO MEANS A 5.11. IN THE ONLY GUIDEBOOK IT'S 5.10D...AND I FOUND IT EVEN EASIER...BUT THAT'S ME. Anyway, I knew I could have onsighted it and now it drives me nutz. YOU COULD OF. YOU DIDN'T. BOO HOO- THERE'S MILLIONS OF OTHER 60 FOOT CLIP UPS OUT THERE. What is the best way to get this out of my head. KEEP CLIMBING. Oh yea if anyone has a good route at cave creek, that is a good onsight please tell me. A GOOD ONSIGHT? OHHH- YOU MEAN IN THAT RANGE? YOU WANT A TROPHY FOR YOUR DASHBOARD? TRY "PROCESSED MEAT" ANOTHER 5.10D CLOSE BY. IF YOU DON'T ONSIGHT THAT ONE...TRY "STICK IN YOUR EYE" A 10A IN THE SAME AREA. IF YOU STILL HAVE A HARD TIME...TRY DROPPING A TOPROPE ON "BOO-HOO-HOO" -A 5.8 IN THE HIDDEN WALLS AREA. SORRY TO BE SO MEAN...BUT HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO HELP YOU WITH THIS? JUST GET OUT AND CLIMB DUDE. A BEAUTIFUL FALL DAY WITH COOL TEMPS AND GOOD FRIENDS WILL HELP YOU GET OVER IT, I'M SURE. IF NOT...HERE'S SOME REAL ADVICE- YOUR CONFIDENCE LIES TOO MUCH IN YOUR CLIMBING ABILITY AND THE ELUSIVE "ONSIGHT". BUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE IN SOMETHING GREATER AND MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHETHER OR NOT YOU ONSIGHTED SOME BACKWOODS CHUNK-O-ROCK. LOVE, JER(K)

Snake, Rattle, and Roll is a 10d. Hard part is the bottom. Excellent route though. If you want a 11 onsight try Gimp. If I remember correctly, a short 11a route, to the right of Stems and Seeds.

Paintinhaler said: "Uh..yea. I have done "Processed Meat". You need to get your information right." Oh- you mean information like Snake Rattle and Roll is 5.11? >>>"If I ever meet you, your not going to like it." Now here- this a good example of correct information. I would not like meeting you one bit. >> "Ratings and onsight redpoints and crap are stupid, it makes me hate climbing." Then why are you having such a hard time with your failed onsight? NOTHING makes me hate climbing...but attitudes like this make me hate climbers fragile ego's and hyper-sensitivity. Jer

I nearly micro-whipped while following the 5.7 friction move on Snake Dike. The only thing that kept me stuck to the rock was my American pride: my two Italian partners would have had a field day. I should blame it on the really old shoes with really hard rubber, but, let's be honest: I almost fell on 5.7 friction.
