For once there is good news between local climers and local authorities. Concho Valley Climbers Association and the City of San Angelo are partnering up to help enhance the climbing experience for people visiting our bouldering spots, beginning with Beaty Boulders behind the Lake Nasworthy Damn at the end of Beaty rd. Anyone whom has visited this spot will attest to the problem with broken beer bottles and litter. We approached the Mayors office with a program akin to that of an adopt a road deal and they were actually excited that our group was interested in such a plan. After putting us in touch with the parks dept people they are now willing to install the much needed garbage cans and be responsible for the disposal. Our group in return will be responsible for keeping the area around the boulders litter free with monthly work partys to police the area. They're even going to place one of those adopt a road signs in our "honor" for our part. We have another great area that was brought to our attention recently that is along the river in the middle of town that after showing the city what we can do with their support at Beaty Boulders, we hope to develope a new and probably our best climbing spot in the near future with the help of our local goverment. Point being. if you show how your group is an asset to the community instead of a liability, you might be surprised at what can happen. We'll keep everyone advised as the program developes.

Happy Climbing,
