Get a fish. Not the world's best suspension, but plenty functional. Bag is every bit as bomber as anyone elses. Spend the extra money on beer, a econoledge, or whatever. Fish: $149 (goes toward's killing Russ' liver) Metolious: $240 (goes to an ego stroking company) Yates: $375 (goes to a good guy who makes good stuff)

Russ has been tweaking his suspension system on his bags. i was going to test one of em on the column, but it fell through, so i didn't get to take it out for long, but i had over a hundred pounds in it and it was pretty nice. its not as beefy as the metolious i was able to get cheap, but it does the job and not painful. if i was going to buy brand new, i would get a fish

Tim, You just missed two EBAY auctions each for a fatsack for $79.95. They got no bids and so didn't sell. If it was Russ selling, I'm sure you could still get one or both of them. Do a search on completed items and track them down. Best, Kim Edit: Opps sorry, not the fatsack, but whatever Fish's big sack is.

I have an El Cap and like it. Ecept for one thing, the damn straps are way too thin. They are the same straps that come with thier smaller bags like the Quarter Dome. They cut through your shoulders like butterknives. I also have an older Half Dome, that has thicker and more comfortable straps. I think the Half Dome is plenty big enough for most walls. it carries better because it doesn't stand up so high, and you can reach the bottom.

El cap all the way man. That thing is huge. Use the money you'll save from not buying the Yates and buy some good beer, sausage, and advocodos to fill the extra space you will have. Live like a king!!!

Try to score an older Met Half Dome on ebay. 100 clams would be a good buy. That would be my first choice. Trust me the new suspension hurts. We carried ~80lbs of the PO this spring and I had bruises for weeks. maybe the most miserable descent yet....for me at least.

... you can have my ex-wife, she's really big, and well, a pig. The only drawback is this one will only ever want to sit on the couch and watch TV eating junk food and yelling at you. Still, it's free! Can't complain about that huh? Cheers Adam

yeah i spotted that and am keeping an eye on it. i've been keeping an eye out on ebay for a good score, otherwise i'll drop bucks on a new metolius unit. but damnit, i just -had- to deciede to build another mountain bike, so my wall spending has been momentarily distracted. i need to refocus, i need a bag, and a ledge, and godknows what else. spring will come up on me faster than i expect i'm sure.

I second Lambone. I moved out of Chicago, it was the best decision I ever made. Consider moving your consulting business to a city in the west, such as San Fran, San Diego or Denver. Your weekend and three day weekend trip opportunities would be awesome. :) -Kate.
