Seems like every area west of here has put together some sort of RC.com gathering. Who's interested in getting a group of DC Metro Climbers together. Granted we don't have the gunks or some other great place to go, but we could arange somthing at one of the crags, or possibly at one of the gyms. A chance to meet some of the local faces without having to plan a road trip out west. Thoughts? Ideas?

I like the Senneca Idea, but it isn't really local. Granted, that's the best climbing anywhere close to here, but that will involve a weekend trip, long drive, an so on. If a lot of people are up for it, I'm in. If not, let's try something closer.

Oh, and if we go to Seneca, I need someone to teach me trad/sport. Haven't done either, and I'm dying too!

If you guys did Seneca or New River Gorge, you'd pull quite a few people in probably. -Don Diego-

I would love to go, but my travel schedule is limited by my work travel schedule. If you guys wanted to meet at a gym nearby we could do either Sportrock III in Sterling VA or wait for the new Earthtreks gym to open in Novemeber in Timonium, MD.

Dan Great Idea!! Seneca!!! Definetly..it's only (3) hrs. from D.C. New River is (5) or Franklin is (3). No gyms..sorry...am there all the time. I'm going to Rumney so would like to coordinate around that gathering. Hope we get a lot of response. Mad River "Climb it if you can"

sounds like a good idea dan to get a rc dc/md/va get together. don't know if you're thinking of a get together for a day trip or for a full weekend, but if it's for a full weekend imho it'd probably be best to go out to seneca for some multi pitch trad and from there it's easy to hit franklin and nelson for some good single pitch sport routes. then there's always the new river gorge for some seriously amazing climbing.

Good idea. I'm in. My climbing pal, besmole will be in too. I'm up for a trip to Seneca, if we think that is the best idea. I think we should shoot for late October. Just to give us enough planning time.

Hey I'm interested. I'm still waiting on my knee surgery to heal. Starting to road bike, so I climbing will be next. I'll follow this thread to update my knee condition and see how things are shaping up. If W.Va is the place, early fall would be better, as it can get cold up there. Hey Madriver we still want to climb with you and your daughter. Let me know when you will climb locally...Carder,Great Falls, Rock St.Pk. Later all Charlie

Hey All.... Not much response..lets go climbing anyway. Pick a time and place..and be there or be nose hair! Sugestions... Franklin was great, I went this last weekend and was suprised that no one was there, the place was empty! Seneca is super..no trad gear here but will go with people who do. Or a simple evening at Caderock might work? Anyway..throw out some thoughts and lets go!! Bob and Vicky

First Monday of each month is member guest night at Sportrock, one guest per member gets in free, otherwise it is a $14 walkup fee If you come in on any Monday night, ask for Brian behind the desk (that's me) and I will hook you up if you tell me you are from rc.com. I can do this once in a while for one or two people so don't abuse the privledge.

Hey Brian, that's awesome. I'll take you up on that sometime soon. I'm thinking about joining, but I just don't quite have the money right now. I figured I'd come up and check it out a few times first. Anyway, I'll shoot you a PM when I plan to do it. Thanks!

Dan.. Be very careful of Sportrock front desk personell!! Espescially Brian...he will probably try and sell you some outrageous membership plan along with a bougus initiation fee...!!! Besides that you will probably be disturbing his web surfing at the same time!!! Sorry Brian, just kidding. I will be up at Sportrock, Rockville this Thursday from 5:00pm till 9:30 or so. Since I am the defending Sportrock Bouldering Champion.. I try and practice as much as possible..by the way I think Brian competed in that comp and LOST!! can you belive that!!!! Anyway..come up any Monday, Thursday Friday evening and I will be there, and you can acctually meet the SR front desk jockeys too!! Hey...Hey.. see ya Brian keep on training!! Bob... P.S - Dan..Brian is one of the best climbers in the gym and I can't climb out of my own shadow.

Hey now...the initiation fee is not bogus!! Ok...I admit...it is bogus. But the Rockville gym is a fun place to climb. I may in on Thursday depending on how my foot recovery is going. That and how sore I still am from the massive pullup workout I did Monday. Ouch.

Foot recovery? sounds like an excuse to me...but keep doing those pullups it can only help in your quest to dethrone the champ!!! Did you notice the two finger finger pull ups I was working on...uh...I mean that other Arthur was working on!!! By the way.. I taught her every thing she knows about climbing...O.K...thats not true but I beat her too at the members comp!!! See ya... BA
