In the end I'm keeping it but I'm curious what other people think. I soloed up a short, moderate route, saw someone left a brand new locker on a bolt hanger at the top, I took it, put it in my teeth and down climbed the same route. Kept it. Bad? Booty? Do the same?

I can't believe you'd do something like that. You should take better care of your teeth.

You soloed the route and then solo downclimbed the same route AND carried the booty in your mouth? Keep it you earned it

Listen. When I climb a route, and find something on it, I keep it. Just last week, I solo TR-ed a route and bootied a BD nut and some webbing. Then I moved the rope over to another route and rapped off to snag a draw off the 2nd to last bolt on a hard route. Only draw on the route, someone's obvious highpoint and bail point.

If it was left behind, they obviously didn't want it enough to do what was necessary to take it with them. I did.

I wouldn't have done the same. I'd have clipped it to my waist band.

Booty.

If it's something being used to rap off of, and future parties will need it to rap off, and there is no other way down, LEAVE IT THERE!

Yeah no kidding, it was a locking carabiner. Not like the dude took a pair of 3/4 bolts at a belay point home with him or anyting.

I wasn't meaning to imply that the OP did, but was trying to add to what others said.

Now...who's flinging turds at me?
