I like this site and the people who participate. Genuinely. But the performance thing is so fucking bad that I'm going to try and ween myself of the frustration. There is only one way to do this.
I've deleted the bookmarks just to make it harder on myself. It won't be easy and I'm sure I'll fall off the wagon. This is not an indictment of rc.com, more an indictment of ME really.
Please, someone send me an email if this place ever gets a decent server.

Dingus, I don't blame you at all, this has to be the SLOWEST must frustrating website in existance. Yet it's almost like an addiction. I'm going to be weening myself off for the winter as well.... I hear supertopo is faster ;)

I understand. I have now developed the habit of clicking a link, and switching to some other task (like work). When that task is done, I switch back & see if the page has loaded.
Oddly enough, the performance lag does not produce as much reflection on what I am posting as I would think....

I'd have to agree. I work with an web based company and I can honestly say if our site was down all weekend long, I'd be out of a job. If I were actually paying for ad space on this site, I'd demand continuous refunds. But, I like the content and the site itself. Let's hope for something better in the near future.

supertopo is much faster. i have been seeing alot of the membership of rc.com appearing on st. st is like an rc.com that actually works. hmm novel concept.
on the plus side - doing anything on rc.com takes so damn long. So by the time you are able to compose that email/post, telling the noob he is such an idiot for posting something that stupid, most of your anger/animosity/rage has waned into nothing.
