Hmm... It's great that you're being transparent about the age and condition of your stuff. But... you know?

Nevermind. Good luck with the sell.

How exactly is it that this stuff has been around 10-15 years and NEVER taken a single fall?

Well, I got some interesting replys to my post. Yes the stoppers are I bought in 1991 at PineNeedle Mountaineering in Durango, along with a set of hexes. No, none of my trad gear has taken any falls. I simply climb well below my limit on trad gear. I had a very close call on Simians to the Sun and a # 6 stopper. I replaced the stopper. Im not sure what the fellow means by me being transparent. I simply want the new lightweight $$$$$ stuff and I cant afford 1000.00 for a set of cams with out giving up something. If it doesnt sell.... I just get stuck with a 15 lb rack instead of 12 lb. Im still going climbing. Tyler

Kane,

Maybe I tend to be cautious to a fault, but I would never trust my life to web gear (or a rope) that didn't come sealed in plastic with tags on it, unless I were buying it from somebody that I personally know and trust. Dog bones cost about $3.00 new, and I value my life more than $30.00 for a set of 10!

Hopefully it is as good as you say, would this be good for a Newb to belay me on lead with?

You need to slow down and think before buying things that you know nothing about (IE: the Cinch per my alleged recommendation - that I didn't suggest you buy!).

I also read a post where you told somebody that you could teach them how to lead trad, after I taught you... I've been leading for a little over 2 years, and am barely a neophyte myself, that learns more every time I'm on the sharp end.

Climbing in the real world, is far different from taking a "belay test" in a gym somewhere, and considering yourself knowledgeable.

Think before you buy... Think before you die...

Your right,

I am sorry, maybe the lack of having stuff to climb around here makes me keyboard happy. I know I have alot too learn, and I would never do something that I have never done without asking, or endanger someone else. His draws were not special, I just needed some. So I went ahead and got new ones from gearexpress.com . Wow, my time could be better spent.

Only if you have a dishonest seller.

Ok, why does this deserve a turd? If you post an item for auction and then cut a side deal, that is dishonest to the bidders.

I'm just concerned about him, as he's on a quest to purchase as much gear as possible in a very short amount of time, without the required knowledge or expierence with said...

FWIW: While he seems like a really nice guy, it doesn't change the fact that he's still a high school kid with way too much enthusiam and zero patience, and we all know that can easily make for a deadly combination in this sport!

A quick read of a few of his posts will paint the complete picture, and I really hope that somebody is able to work with him to help him to understand that Rome wasn't built in a day. I have invited him to join myself and others, but he wants us to conform to his plans and schedule, rather than him conforming to ours, and it doesn't work that way.

Tim,

Most of what you said is true, but I do have a reason to be purchasing gear. For one, I need to have everything in two weeks. I also have the spare cash, so why not?(better then buying drugs). I do not understand where you got the idea that I am trying to get you to "conform to my plans". Did I say something that gave you that idea? I simply asked if you would like to come to HCR with me. Sorry, but that is not how I meant to come off. Like I said, and holiday I would love to come up and climb with you, if you had something planned. Not forcing anything here.

On a second note,

We successfully derailed this thread,

and I do not need your quickdraws anymore.

Being a new climber, you should be climbing with a more experienced partner that has all the necessary gear... I'm just really concerned, because you asked elsewhere about having a n00b (your brother) belaying you while leading, with a Cinch.

I'm 40, and was nearly killed and actually told I was paralyzed in 93 from making stupid n00b mistakes without the knowledge or training to do what I was doing... I'm still paying for that mistake physically, and hope to hell that nobody else would ever have to suffer the same fate.

I do wish you would plan to join us Oct 13-15, even if it means cutting a day or 2 of school, because there will be hundreds of climbers of all sizes, ages, and styles at this event.
