Not to diss Chris, and at risk of getting flamed, neither the clip of Witness the Fitness or Realization look like FA. On WtF the holds look already chalked and the bolts on Realization are pre clipped. Thoughts?

I love the part in Realization where Sharma keeps chalking up and switching hands. And yes my hands and feet are sweating like crazy. I did not even notice until I read that post.

In reply to: Not to diss Chris, and at risk of getting flamed, neither the clip of Witness the Fitness or Realization look like FA. On WtF the holds look already chalked and the bolts on Realization are pre clipped. Thoughts? Have you ever worked a long boulder problem? The first ascent is the first complete link up of all the moves. If the crux happened be the last two moves, chances are all of the holds will have chalk on them. Also, since Witness the Fitness is pretty low for most of it (indeed the second half is a distinct problem unto itself) he probably worked it in sections until he had all the moves dialed. As far as preclipped bolts on Realisation, its common on hard (and sometimes not so hard) sport routes to hang dog your way up just to get the draws placed before attempting to link up all the moves free. Common stuff.

Common stuff. Or to rap down the route (if possible) to place them. Or to stick clip them. But yes, in this case I think he may have dogged up it.

Yeah, I think he chalked his hands 80 times in three minutes, maybe that is the missing link in my climbing. Need more cowbell...no, no, no my friend, NEED MORE CHALK. No, props to the guy. He is something else.

when he keeps chalking and swtiching hands... it really brings me to that place where you don't want to give in... but you're reluctant to move forward. awesome.

^I gotta learn how to do that too. I usually chalk on the way up a route, but i never make a complete stop to chalk up and rest.
