On the Calavers River arm of New Melones Res., there are alot of areas that could have climbing potential. I've checked it out once from a rented patio boat. There's tons of bouldering, but I wonder if there are established routes out there. Anybody know? I'm camping out there this weekend and doing some fishing, but I'll probably bring my gear too, do some scouting around.

Sort of. But, would you want to do the bushwacking to get the the resirvoir from the Grotto? Me neither. Jailhouse is near New Melones. But the warm-ups there are harder than I climb!
