Do the arteries carrying blood "INTO" your hands go into the hand on the back of the wrist or from the bottom of the wrist? Any anatomy students out there? God Bless

they go in (and out) through the bottom of your wrist. the place where you take your pulse in ur wrist is an artery. Trust me, i have an anatomy exam tomorrow and i've been studying that part.

You have TWO arteries that go into the hand. The Radial (where you take your pulse, thumbside) and the Ulnar (on the "bottom" of the wrist, uh, pinkyside)

Someone is trying to tell me something. ...I'm willing to bet it's Muhammad.

Yeah, close enough. at least i was correct on the arteries' position. Gimme a break, it was like 3am then. Arteries, veins, pff, they all carry blood. As you may have guessed, i no longer care about my degree.

radial artery is on your thumb side, ulnar is on your pinky side. if you bend your wrist back and feel the areas with your other hand's index and middle fingers you can feel the pulses better. Those are the only arteries supplying blood to your hand. You have two so that if one becomes blocked your hand is still able to get blood through the other artery.

I was just going to try and put heat packs strapped to my wrist to heat the blood going into my hand while not interfering with the hand, i.e. the heat pack on the wrist and not in the hand part of the glove. I tried it with one on right wrist and nothing on left wrist and all I noticed was that I had a warm right wrist  Just trying to come up with a way to keep hand warmer with less glove. Any advice? God Bless

I saw a glove or wristband with pockets for mini heat packs. same idea. warm the blood, warm the hand.

Crazy Creek ThermaBands might be what you are looking for? I have a friend who swears by them for ice climbing, I think I will try out a pair myself this winter (or just jury-rig a homemade equivalent).

Sorry but I had to reply. You're obviously not an arts student of any kind. Every arts student and wannabee goth out there knows that your arteries run on the inside of your wrist. Many arts students infact have scars from checking. I don't, but I know at least four who do.

Umm.. back to original query at hand... Yes, the radial and ulnar arteries run into the palm of the hand beneath the flexor retinaculum, but the radial artery also runs into the 'back; of the hand, crossind under the extensor retinaculum and entering the hand at the base of the thumb in what is known as the anatomical snuff box...the area between all the abductor/extensor pollicus tendons. Good luck on that anatomy test!
