Quarks arrived today. Will need to swap out the adze for a second hammer, but otherwise they're perfect.

I think the patio roof traverse will go at M5-ish. Maybe M4 if I stem wide to the cactus.

Brilliant, Reno! Too bad my landlord has forbidden drytooling on our indoor wall! I bought the two tools w/ hammers, then ordered the adze separately, I think it was only like $35. Hopefully someday I'll actually use these puppies!

One more thing, I need help. Telluride or Keystone for the winter? Telluride means I'll be on Ouray like white on rice, Keystone means I might not even make it to the fest. Several other things to consider, obviously. Let me know what you think:

Time to start dry-tooling up a cactus, get in shape.
Even in the context of this thread, the above statement seems both perverted and desperate.

I'm gonna be in Telluride all winter, so you better believe I'm all over the fest. Don't know what kinda time off I'll get, but I'm not far away.

Only 13 weeks to go. Time to start training!

It snowed today in WI and all I could think of was Ouray! Ron has told me so many great stories, I can't wait to experience it for myself.

For those interested in clinics, you'll be able to reserve them Nov 6. Fee will be $20 this year.
http://www.ourayicefestival.com/clinics.php

One interesting thing I noticed... San Juan Mountain Guides are hosting ALL of the clinics this year :?

I just bought a pair of steak-knives, with which I intend to school you all... I am currently practicing my one-arms hanging from the ice in the back of my freezer. Though awkward, I am confident that this training method will better prepare me as compared to Reno's "Cactus Method."

Oh, and BTW, I will bring some more Glenlivet, Reno, and you still only need to drive to Montrose : )

Cheers,

A.W.

Very much looking forward to making my first trip there. Hopefully, I'll find a pair of Quarks or Rebels in my Christmas stocking, too.

Pffft. Dude, you don't know the meaning of "delicate movement" until you've tried to front point your way up while six inch cactus spines are || that close to your... well, that close.

I shall be happy to drink your scotch for you. As it gets closer, shoot me your flight info (arrival date/time, etc.) and I'll come get you.

Taino: Hope to see ya there. Welcome to the madness. Holler if you need a ride from Montrose airport, place to stay, or beta on anything a'tall.

Jim Donini will not be teaching any of the clinics. He and Thom Engelbach will be in Patagonia attempting to finish a new route on Fitzroy.

I will also be showing up with a full bladder... Any takers? BTW where is everyone staying? I have procrastinated again and still don't have a hotel room, I was thinking I might try for the Best Western this year.

Cheers,

Ya know, talon, they have bathrooms in the airports now. And not those outdoor bathrooms y'all have in Arkansas, but real ones, with sinks, running water, and everything.

Just a thought.
