Looks very nice! Like the Alexandria decorations. What are you using to stiffen the rims of the bags?

What did you use for the inside of the pad? And how did you sew it?

In reply to: Looks very nice! Like the Alexandria decorations. What are you using to stiffen the rims of the bags? Thanks! It took my daughter forever to finally decide on an image for me to embroider. For the rims I'm using 1/2in Covered Poly Boning. You can get it at any fabric store. It holds the shape very well.

In reply to: What did you use for the inside of the pad? And how did you sew it? The pad has 2 layers. One layer of 1in closed cell and another of 4in open cell. I sewed the 2 sides first then joined them with the piece of fabric on top. I had to add the velcro, backpack straps and closure clips before finishing the outside seams. It was a decent first attempt.

I'd love to see more detailed plans for the chalk bags, and the bouldering pad as well.

In reply to: I'd like to know what machine you have. Nothing too fancy, it's a Brother ULT 2003 combo sewing/embroidery machine.

Hey, good work on the pad and bags. I've known a couple of people who've made chalk bags, but I was never overly impressed with them. Yours look good though, how well do they wear?

hey taddie, do you still make bags. I've got a few crown royal bags if you need 'em. I need to repair the bag you made me. the cord closure isn't working anymore.

Thanks! The bags are a cinch to make and most of the materials are leftovers from other projects. Since my kids are using theirs as treasure/chalk bags they are getting the most use and are holding up well. I've been using canvas or trigger cloth for the exterior, both are heavyweight, with a polar fleece lining. The denim is from an old pair of blue jeans with a pink fur lining. I'm now experimenting with other materials for chalk bags and patterns for chalk pots.

A bloke at my local gym made one out of a possum stuffed toy. It hangs upside down so when he chalks up he has to put his hand into the possums butt. Classic

I've made a few chalk bags too but yours look better. For a rim stiffener, I use the rim from the plastic lid of a 13-16 oz coffee can. Just the right size and stiffness.
