YOU TRAVEL FOR ICE! To hint that you wouldn't is Blasphemy!
C'mon... any climber worth their salt would travel to get to ice.

Well, my tools are on back order. And judging by how hard it is to find someone to borrow tools from here, there must not be very many salty climbers.

You must have missed my post about having two setts of tools! You just have to Travel to borrow them for while you're here. UNless you want the whole of RC.com to know you climb even less ice than Brent

Hmmmm. You have the Brent_e syndrome Mr. Climber. You too are posting faster than the reading. I need the tools for my thanksgiving trip in 16 days. Tools are on back order now for weeks. But I ordered different tools from another company,so I should be ok. But there are not a lot of ice climbers in southern Arizona.

So what is that?

A slightly less complete guide than the Falcon book?

Sweet... do you have two sets of big f---ing boots as well? I didn't take much heed of your foot size when we had wings... I fortunately wouldn't even have to travel far to hook up with your tools. Though Grant has extras as well.

Uh, how about two extra sets? 9 1/2ish and 10 1/2ish You'll have to deal with the smell though  and my other carmpons are broken so you'll have to beg, buy, or steal.... I don't recomemd stealing thing your life depends on though.

Or do you really have a big bug that lives on your clock and changes the time on you?

Yes, she is still there. And seeing her is the best thing!!!!!!!!! But our visa application was finally approved last friday. So she should be able to come back in another 1-3 months. China is a fascinating place though. And there is an enormous amount of rock to be climbed there.

also, i've found another method to attach the shells to the frame. I'm hoping it's going to be the way to do things from now on.

and what do you mean "trango's method"???

I think I answered my own question.

I was thinking you had a different way to attach the handle to the tool.

Sounding Canadian isn't being Canadian  BUT!!!! Just think. If you get duo Citizenship, and go travelling..... get into trouble  ...... and have crooked police ask for your passport. Hell, just give them the American one and leave the country on the Canadian one the next day.

In reply to:
If you guys come to Hueco, please include me in your reservation request. That is an easy drive for me. Much closer than the creek or ice. :D

Will do. But we don't believe in making reservations. The one time we did it was nothing but a mistake. Though when we go time is on our side.

I know all about how close it is for you.

See, a couple years ago I was on a roadtrip and met this Canadian Lass and spent a decent amount of time climbing with her in Hueco. I would have never left but the thing was I had a friend flying into Phoenix to meet me to go climbing for a week and another friend flying in soon after friend #1 left. So I left Hueco and the Canadian Lass to pick up my friend and climb some AZ rock.

I picked Chad up and we took off for Mt.Lemmon. Unfortunately fires had gone through and burned the area where we wanted to climb making it really suck to be there. So after another day of climbing way down low on the Mt. we headed up to Jacks.

We climbed at Jacks for a couple of days. I onsighted "Toy Surprise" we drank a lot of beer at night but it was getting close to time for chad to fly home. So we headed down to Queen Creek for a day of climbing so we would be close to the airport the next morning. We proceeded to rip our tips off on the sharp rock of QC for his last day before flying home to Wizconsin.

All that week I kept thinking about that Canadian Lass and wondered if I would ever see her again. After dropping Chad off at the airport I went to my uncle's place and while chilling out there waiting for Mike to show up I devised a plan.

I picked Mike up at the airport and quickly began to set my plan in motion. I had realized that with all the driving Chad and I had done so he could get a decent sampling of different rock, we could have easily drove back to Hueco.

Mike really didn't care too much where we climbed, he just wanted to get in a lot of climbing before he had to fly back to Philly. So I decided we should go back to Mt. lemmon even though there wasn't much to do there. I figured Mt.Lemmon was on the way if I could get my plan to work.

On the drive from Phoenix to Tucson I kept talking up how good the bouldering was at Hueco. I knew Mike really wanted to visit Hueco and had never been there. He was putty in my hands.

After a day of climbing on the Lemmon, and talking up how good the bouldering was at Hueco, and how it wasn't to bad to deal with the restrictions, and the way the Park is run it might get shut down before he ever had a chance to visit. We were on our way East on I-10. I'm pretty sure Mike even thought it was his idea.

We pulled into the Rock Ranch around midnight. There was a big pallet fire burning and sitting there drunk, and confused when she saw me, was the Canadian Lass. Thankfully she wasn't cuddled up to some other guy yet, that would have sucked.

It didn't take too long for Mike to realize I had tricked him. Well not really. He had a really good time climbing at Hueco and going to Juarez and climbing more at Hueco.

Soon the week was almost over and Mike had to fly back home. So back to Phoenix we went, but this time with the Canadian Lass following right behind.

THE END :D

All I can think about is how bundled up you are going to be when it is really cold. You likely won't be able to see your feet!

I grew up in the wilds of Idaho and Montana. I do much better in the cold than the desert heat. Besides, it can not be any colder in Colorado than some of those Alberta winter backcountry snowshoeing trips I used to take.

Yeah but as people grow old and soft they tend to get used to the warmth and dealing with the cold gets tough.
