In reply to: TX is a huge state...all sorts of geography...explore it Too big. Texas's size just shows the damned state's lack of natural geographical boundaries. For example, Albuquerque, Flagstaff, Phoenix, and Denver are all closer to Hueco Tanks than Houston or Dallas. That is just wrong. Oh, and as for where I'm from. Born and raised in Logan, Utah Went to grad school in Dallas, Texas currently living in Castleton, Utah. The Promised Land. http://www.rockclimbing.com/...81-largest_80031.jpg

I was born and lived in San Diego and surround little town near for 10 years. Now I'm unfortunately in the crappiest town on the eastern seaboard. Jamestown, NY--birth place of welfare rats, crap, and Lucille Ball. *woo-freakin-hoo*

I've attached a pic of Kogel Bay, decent surfing spot close to Stellenbosch where I grew up. Mountains and the sea... perfect combination. This was taken the day before my wedding in 2001 by sangiro

Damn... That's beautiful... And probably without all the raw sewage, hypodermic needles, and stuff that some of our beaches have after large rain storms.

i've surfed in south africa, and it is as good as it gets. jeffrey's bay if you like big stuff(i thought i was going to die). muisenburg and a few other places near cape town are nice for more mellow stuff. would love to go back and explore more. loads of great whites in SA, but the biggest concentrations are where not many people surf anyway(cape agulhas area especially). i never worried about it when i was there. good rock too.

i'm strictly a hack rrradam, but i think i have as much fun out there as anyone. need a hurricane to hit the salt lake so i can get some local practice. never surfed in the us, but have surfed in south africa, peru, chile, easter island, and australia. wanted to go when i was in tahiti a few months ago, but surf boards are hard to come by and not many are willing to rent boards. next time i'll bring my own, but i was there for a honeymoon and not a surf trip. oh, i'm from montana, but am kind of a transient. utahrd now, and probably will be for a long time.
