I work in Denver (near Charlotte) and I have just heard about this new US Nation Whitewater Center in between Denver and Charlotte that supposedly has the largest outdoor climbing wall in the US. I am super stoked about this, but havn't yet gone to check it out as I don't really have anyone that i know around here during the week to go climbing with after work or anything. I am a relitively new climber, I took a rock climbing course while attending summer classes at NC State last summer, and have been trying to go climibing as much as possilbe since and am planning on taking a higher level course when i go back for more classes in the spring. Until then though I am working in the charlotte area and am looking for climbing partners. I own a harness/shoes/ATC, some of the basics, no rope though, I can pass any standard belay test and am very safety concsious for a beginner. Anyone interested in climbing in the area send me a message or IM or something.

Hey-my sisters live in Charlotte so I run in that hood a bit. The whitewater center is a haven for city dwellers...although I have not gotten to play there yet. I'll be out that way the first weekend in December and will be headed to check out the whitewater venue if the weather is agreeable. If not some climbing maybe.

A friend of mine checked it out. He said it's pretty cool. Definitely worth checking out. Also, you might want to head over to Crowder Mountain on the weekend. Much of the climbing there is top rope. It's been my experience that people are fairly friendly about offering a ride on their rope. I've met a few partners there, too. Good luck.
