Although I am not against blue and most shades of blue, I think the site would "pop" more and be easier to navigate if the banners were different, contrasting colors. For example, the threads in each category are listed in alternating hay and white. Why not something more contrasting/noticeable?

I agree with you. This new color scheme is a bit...sanitary. I think some re-jigging is necessary.

I am really not feeling this greyed-out teal thing we've got going now. Even if there isn't more contrast, I'd just appreciate more actual COLOR. As in more vivid hues without the grey mixed in.

Since you guys are all guys, and hguys are known to be more often colorblind than women...and since I'm a woman.... I feel the need to tell you thta there is no teal color on this website... and the only blue is the little sidebar things taht you drag to scroll the page. Though the colors are bland as can be...the colors used on this site are - medium warm Grey - light lavender - another sort of lavender-y grey - white logo - lighter cool grey - medium cool Grey - Tangerine - a Taupe-y grey - pale yellow None of these colors seem to complment or contrast with the others; it's sort of sad. Maybe the guy who designed it should have asked his g/f to pick the colors..... Martha Stewart would be having "issues".....

Happiegrrrl, two things: 1) I'm female, and 2) I see exactly what I described: greyed-out teal. To be specific, it is what I see in the darkest bar across the top, and above it is a paler version. I am far from colorblind, so maybe, just maybe your screen just looks different from mine. Just because people don't have "grrrl" in their names, please don't assume we're all male, kay?

Yeah, definitely teal, from a male non-colorblind web designer perspective. ;)

I agree with the teal-ish. As far as my oppinion on the colour scheme I'll say it staight out and won't hold back: It sucks balls! The overall feel of the colour scheme is cold, bland, and univiting. Add to this the fact that it does really make it harder and less enjoyable to read the threads. The front page can get away with the current colours only because of the contrast provided by the pics and headers. Some more inviting/crisp/or vibant colours are needed. Here's a few options that could be included: -The top banner could be replaced with an orange granite type theme. Not the ugly computer generated granite, but something from a real pic. -True greys could be used with more vibrant colours in the backround to provide a more inviting 'feel' to it. -Alternating colours between the individual posts in a thread could be used to create a more effective visual separation between posts than the current layout. Take this Idea further and you can apply it to threads in the forums and make scanning through the forums easier on the eyes. I could go on and on, but I have work to do and others can further the suggestions also.

...actually, I had to go to do some printing today, and...because I have - let us say - "issues" with being...ummm....wr-r-r-on-n...(I can't even type the word!).... I opened rc.com on the computer, swiped a part of the page(unfortunately, I only did the top third, because I wanted to know just how far off my monitor actually was, and printed it out.... . . . . . . . The darker grey color ain't teal. Or teal-ish, or even a teensy weensy, itty bitty, little pixelated ....teal. Though I suppose there could be one or two percent green in the color, it prints grey. It definitely is a cool grey, with blue in the formula, but it's grey. And - interestingly - the top band, when printed, actually DOES look very nice with the darker grey. It is a lighter hue of the same color, maybe 40% of the full cool grey(as in the Pantone Color Specifier series), where the darker one is probably 60% (I don't have a pantone book to compare, just going by memory). The text color, on those two bands, isn't bad in print either, though it probably would be improved to be simply white..... I wish I had printed the butter yellow color and taupe-y colors that the threads get set on - I have no idea what they are in print. So - all this doesn't really matter...since this is for web viewing and not print. I think I recall hearing at one time that there are some colors that look pleasing on the web(research had been done, apparently), and these are colors a web designer would prefer to use. And some colours....(ummmm....I can't imagine what shades those might be!)....look not so pleasant, perhaps even to the point of annoying the viewer to the point of distraction... hahaha

Hahahahahaha Someones getting all worked up. I for one never said teal. I am not exactly sure what teal looks like (what is its frequencies?). But I see something in the My Stuff area that ain't brown or gray. :) Why doesn't Sugestions and Feedback echo to the front page? hmm.

...112, you must have "thought" teal....just kidding. Teal is a general term for a color that is a mix of blue and green. It can be more blue, or more green in appearance. It's a favored color is sproting apparrel and accessories, because of it's vibrancy and emotional feeling of "action." I prefer a teal color that is mostly blue, personally....
